Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very interesting and very informative. Did not know Betsy Ross might not have seen the first American flag. Nice movie when you check in & the house is great. I got a real understanding of the Star Spangled Banner and the history

I went to the Betsy Ross the day before in Philly so sticking with theme of our trip it was important to stop here as well!! The lady working confused with the history of the house with conflicting information. I walked through the house and museum which was excellent. The massive flag outside really outs in perspective how big the flag was… we did leave and research the significance of this France Scott was to the Flag house since the lady working did an awful job explaining to us. This House and flag is what inspired the “Star Spangle Banner” written by Scott….

We took the 30-minute tour through this well-preserved house. It is an interesting story how Mary Pickersgill came about to make the flag that flew high above Fort McHenry. What is also amazing is how 8 people lived in such tight quarters.
There is also a small museum with artifacts and a 10-minute movie included with your entrance fee.
I would definitely recommend coming and checking out this important piece of history.

I would first like to say that the city of Baltimore should be SUPER proud to have this piece of history still in tact for all to enjoy. It's an amazing little home and museum. That being said, I was expecting more from the grandiose write ups in the paper and local magazines. As you can see, the newly constructed visitor center would lead one to believe that you will be on your way to visit a museum that's more than a lobby large. That's exactly what it is....a lobby filled with exhibits.
From Pratt Street, walk down the path to the large, modern building covered with the flag. You pay here for your visit. We started our tour with a 10 minuted film in a small room. Then we had a knowledgeable and enthusiastic docent lead us on a 30+ minute tour of the Pickersgill home. After this visit, you should be amazed at how the flag was created as well as the ladies were able to get along. Finally, we visited the "lobby" of the modern building. As a side note, the staff was exceptionally friendly & welcoming.
The exhibits are informative and well done. I just kept expecting "more" Upstairs, there is a ballroom for rent. That's it. There is an additional gallery for the kids to play. Modern restrooms available along with a small gift shop area. The entry fee was nominal. $8 Adult, $7 Senior (55 and Older), $7 Military, $6 Student (Grades K through 12), FREE Child (Under 6) We were able to use our AAA discount for $1 off.
If you are not from Baltimore, look for the parking garage with the can of OLD BAY on it and park in that garage. The museum is directly across the street. This museum is located in Little Italy, so wonderful meal options are available any time of the day or night.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO -
*This is an attraction, not a destination. Have other things planned for the day.
*Little kids will be bored to tears unless they can play in the playroom.
*Use AAA for $1 discount.
*There is free parking in the area, but it's extremely limited.
*CLOSED Sunday and Monday. Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

I was expecting a lot more from this site. It looks beautiful from the street and there is so much more to the story that they could tell. It was overpriced for a small exhibit, a 10 minute film, and a self guided walk through a 6 room house with a binder of snippets of information. I was hoping for a nice gift shop to buy something historic and quality to talk home. Nothing but cheap kid things. Overall a big disappointment.

Great piece of history!!! I took the tour with my 8 year old son. Our tour guide was wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. We watched a brief movie about the history of Fort Mchenry and the history of the star spangled banner. We even got to see an actual piece of the original flag that inspired our national anthem!!! We also really enjoyed the tour of Mary Pickersgill's historic home. The original doorknocker with her initials is still in place!!!! Great place to visit and the price was great!

My daughter and I visited this attraction in February. It is a nice little museum about the creation of the US Flag that inspired Francis Scott Key’s poem that became our national anthem. It started with a 20 minute video, and then a roomful of exhibits. You can then go to the actual house where the flag was made. You can do this museum in about one and a half hours taking your time. There is also a small gift shop.

We walked to the house from the inner harbor. We pretty much had the house to ourselves. You have to go to the museum to pay to get in the house. They give you a notebook that gives you the self guided tour information of the house.

Again, a history buff. Again, been all over colonial US. This place was a disappointment. Not free. Nothing really nostalgic. Yes, a flag was created in a brief period here for Ft. McHenry, but B. Ross' place in Philly is a better tour. Waste the time and money if you want, but in my mind this place can be skipped.

I arrived late in the day so I didn't get as much time as I would've liked. What I did see was worth going through

How much time did you spend here? Is an hour enough time?
Written 28 October 2016
I would say you could spend an hour in the museum and another half-hour/45 min in the Pickersgill house.
