The Museum advertises itself as covering over 40 acres and it felt like it. Old steam engines take up a lot of space! The exhibits were well done and most of the signage was well done or at least adequate. The docents we chatted with...More

Went here on a whim. What a beautiful museum. Not as big as Strasburg, but in a very nice setting and excellent for younger children.

We visited with two young children, 4 and 10. Both of the boys found activities to stimulate there imagination. Adults enjoyed the history and the influence of the rail roads on the civilly war

This is one of the best train museums I've seen. The roundhouse and buildings contains a wide variety of rolling stock, most of which was well restored. There was a very nice outdoor train layout. The exhibition on railroads in the Civil War was fascinating....More

The admission price is $16 for an adult (seniors and kids are less) -- shame on them for charging it and shame on me for paying it! This is a very simple museum with a modest number of exhibits. If you compare it to the...More

It somewhat depends upon your interest of trains. My dad is a big railroad buff and we spent a good 2 hours walking around. there are a lot of train cars and locomotives you can climb aboard and see as well as a model... More
Just fyi on this and other travels you may do, with some simple online research you can usually find discounts such as 2 for 1 coupons for the B&O railway museum. I agree with you that $16pp is a tad steep, but cut that in half and it becomes reasonable. Hope this helps.

"Two-fers" are a good deal if you can 1) find them and 2) plan ahead for your excursion to the museum (or anywhere for that matter!) For solo travelers, it won't cost you any more than your ticket might have and there is a... More
