Full Disclosure-I lived in Tampa for 20 years and frequently went to African-themed Busch Gardens. I won't compare the two attractions because that would be unfair, but the Maryland Zoo was really, you know-meh. We brought a picnic lunch with us and ate on a...More

Nice zoo to visit if you are in Baltimore however there are plenty of other things to do in the Baltimore area. Good place if you have young kids.

This is a very nice zoo, on the small side. They have lots of fun events, especially for kids, which is great. But this zoo, for what it is, is too expensive. Trying to take the family with kids is just way overpriced.

This is not a huge zoo. It could be seen in about 3-4 hours. Parking lots are gravel-they are not paved. Adult admission is $18, easy to read exhibit maps are provided. Enter the ticket plaza and ride the free shuttle to the penguin encounter...More

Although there is a large aquarium for penguins - those were nowhere to be seen. Elephants, giraffes and rhinos - those where nice to see. Chimpanzee place was dirty. On-site food: no "healthy" options. Even ice-cream is weird and all chemicals. Clarification: we are from...More

Getting to the zoo was a little questionable on some of the neighborhoods you had to drive thru. The zoo itself was very clean and the animals seemed happy. It was under construction in some areas so that was a bit disappointing, We actually visited...More

They do have some free days to visit the Zoo-recommend that day to come to see if you want to come back. Lots of people show up on that day-March? I believe.

According to google maps it's a 17minute bike ride (2.4 miles) and only 12minutes by car (no biggie since it's only a difference of 5 minutes). There's free parking which is rare these days. I wouldn't advise to walk there... More
