So many of the Squares in Savannah that my husband and I saw on our own or on our Segway tour, are within a short walking distance of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist...worth a stop especially at Christmas. Chatham Square is one of them, being one of the last 4 Squares in the city to be done. If... More

We found this square on a tour. I loved it simplicity and peaceful feeling, it is a great stop for the trees and Spanish moss.

There's no fountains or giant statues to be seen here. What you will view is the scenery. Giant miss covered trees and shade. It's a bit off the route of traffic and a surprise to find.

Laid out in 1847 and then dedicated to honor of William Pitt, the first Earl of Chatham with the Square and County named for him. On Barnard and West Wayne Streets, the Square is outside the constant flow of pedestrian traffic on Bay and Bull Streets so is relatively hidden. It is truly a neighborhood park with a canopy of... Many of the other Squares have sculptures and fountains to draw you in. This one doesn’t need them. The fern and moss covered trees, compete with their twisted branches, allow one to forget they’re in a big city and take visitors away into a storybook forest. At the center, reminiscent of a colorful present, are several lovely flowering bushes. They... More

This was one of my favorite squares in Savannah. It's more of a neighborhood square, and very quiet. Lushly treed and very shady. Not overrun with people. Fascinating architecture with the row houses surrounding it. Well worth it to stop buy and enjoy.

This is a lovely square with shade trees and nice to relax or walk through. Located at Barnard and Wayne Streets. The majority of the squares are centrally located so can walk and stroll through many which are a block or two apart.

We stayed on Chatham Square and this is a very nice out of the way square to sit and read a book.
