We stopped by this historic landmark during our time in Savannah. The fort is located off the beaten path and the road getting there looked a little sketchy. But don't be fooled! Our historical reinacter, Aaron Bradford, was phenomenal! This through and energetic presentation made...More

Great place to visit. The staff puts on a GREAT presentation and they really do fire a small (sounds really BIG) canon.

This was probably our favorite stop in Savannah. The fort is beautiful and on the water only about 15 min from historic downtown. The fort is one of the best I’ve seen as far as authenticity and information. Aaron was the soldier who gave us...More

Make sure you have a tour guide take you around. They are very informative and it is exciting when you get to see and hear a live cannon fired off. The history alone about Old Fort Jackson was very interesting.

The fort is one of the less impressive I have seen. If you have extra time in your schedule, make the trip. If you don't, I would recommend visiting Fort Pulaski instead. If you do go to Fort Jackson, make sure to attend the talk...More

Arrive prior to the cannon demonstration by the river at which they fire as a tourist steamship passes. Stand so that you can get a photo as the blast - a blank, of course - bursts towards the ship. It looks as though it is...More

We visited this fort with friends and had the extra bonus as the local arts college had a class there working on sound recordings. Great guides added to the experience.

Cannon firing presentations include a history of the site and its significance. When kids visit, we try to make our programming as interactive as possible, including mock drill and marching.
