The SCAD Museum of Art was founded in 2002 as part of the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. The museum's collection of more than 4,500 pieces includes works of haute couture, drawings, painting, sculpture, photography, prints and more. The SCAD Museum of Art is a teaching museum, serving Savannah College of Art and Design students and as well as members of the community and other visitors. A focal point is the Walter O. Evans Center for African American Studies, a multidisciplinary center for the study, understanding and appreciation of African American culture, art and literature. It is complemented by the André Leon Talley Gallery, named for the Vogue contributing editor and SCAD Board of Trustees member. The museum also features a 250-seat theater, a terrace and outdoor projection screen, a conservation studio, a museum café, as well as a 12-foot-long orientation touch table. An 86-foot tall steel and glass lantern welcomes visitors and elegantly redefines the Savannah city skyline.

The museum of the Savannah College of Art and Design is beautifully housed in a restored and extended historic building next to the visitor's center. The exhibits were well done but suffered from a lack of interpretation and while docents were on hand, they weren't very knowledgeable. Nevertheless it was busy, mostly with students; absent a specific exhibit that you... More

Unfortunately, when we went they were changing several of the exhibits. We did get a reduced ticket price because of this. The student docents were excellent. Very knowledgeable about the exhibits and the area. Very eager to chat. This made for a much more enjoyable art experience.

This is a very nice museum with interesting exhibits that periodically change. It's part of an amazing college.

Since we're not contemporary art fans, probably unfair to judge. However, the galleries are very large and light. Unusual things, at least to my eyes. I did enjoy one exhibit of fashion photos from the 70s; however, most exhibits were ery modern and way out. I know this is their forte.

SCAD has an amazing presence in this old city. The student docents were charming, and the art work very cutting edge.

If you like art this is a place to visit. At the time of visit there were 3 or 4 exhibitions of good artists for free. We did not visit the other exhibits as we found the entrance expensive. But if one compares them with great museums around the world.

We showed up at the SCAD Museum of Art just as they were closing for the holidays. Noting that we had come quite a distance and wouldn't have another opportunity, Sean (museum director) offered to give us a brief personal tour. What a wonderful gesture! As we entered each room of this re-purposed historic train station, we were greeted not... More

SCAD which stands for Savannah College of Art and Design is highly noted in the world. This shop displays the original art from their students. Its over the top and wonderful to see first hand. The art is for sale as well. Great place to stop and experience!

$20 for a family of 3 or $10 each. No details of what you are looking at or explanations. Memorial to 79 dead people but where, why or when. Three slabs of counter top marble in a room? Could see that at Home Depot. Won't ever go again.

Thankfully we got to visit on a free weekend through Bank of America. It's just not the type of art that my wife and I enjoy. We would not go back.
