Lots of people go to Bonaventure Cemetery, and it is truly lovely, but we discovered this cemetery on a recent Savannah trip and I am completely in love with it. Beautiful architectural details, statues and the ubiquitous Spanish moss.

Many of Gettysburg's dead find final peace here under moss laden oaks along with Savannah's 18th and 19th century residents.

This cemetery is beautiful! The trees and landscape were stunning. Leaves the color of fall. So peaceful and the history is rich and educational.

We went here to pay respect to Juliette Gordon Low, founder of Girl Scouts. It is a short drive from downtown to the cemetery. This is a very old cemetery with thousands of graves. It was clean and quite peaceful. If you are taking Girl...More

This cemetery remained reasonably undisturbed during the Civil War and is home to some of Savannah's most distinguished residents. Juliette Gordon Low is buried here. I was particularly interested in finding the Mackay family plot, as I loved Eugenia Price's Savannah quartet. This cemetery is...More

We learned about the Laurel Grove Cemetery while taking the Old Savannah Tour. We had already visited the Bonaventure Cemetery and wanted to see this lesser known cemetery as well. Upon arrival we were immediately impressed with the beautiful grounds. The roads meander throughout the...More

For those interested in cemetery history and scenery, this is the place to go. A large confederate section and many family vaults in various states of decay. Beautiful wrought iron work and the Spanish moss in the trees only adds to the ambience.
