Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Night Prayer by Candlelight: this is a rare experience of beauty, history, and holiness in an historic old church. My whole family deeply enjoyed it. Here's the info on the service from the church's handout: Compline, or Night Prayer, is sung from 8:00-8:30p.m. every Sunday by candlelight by the 16-voice auditioned Compline Choir of Christ Church Anglican, Savannah. Enter into the stillness of another age. All are welcome.

The compline service was dark, quiet and practically anonymous. The building was lit only by candles. It was a 30 minute church service that was entirely sung except for a 4 minute homily. The singers sang everything in English from a really wide range of genres (15th Century, 18th Century, Americana, etc) but was all thematic and thoughtful. Fantastic alto and soprano soloists. There were about 60 people in the congregation. Leave the kids at home!

The 30 minute service of Compline, offered at Christ Church Anglican in Savannah, is comprised almost exclusively of music, ranging from Gregorian Chant to modern choral literature. It offers an opportunity for the listener to be immersed in aurel beauty and perhaps to enter into a spiritual experience. Timeless yet timely - you will not be disappointed!

Christ Church is classic! It is an important piece of architecture that adds volumes to the Savannah city-scape. And in a City known for the historical significance of so many buildings, Christ Church manages to be outstanding!

As we walked through the square, we admired the massive columns and architecture of the church, but it was not open for touring at that time. I am not sure if it ever is without a guide, but as we got to the northwest corner of the church a side door opened and the rector ( rector I think...not sure of his title but someone with authority and extensive knowledge) of the church asked my husband and myself if we would like to come in and see the church and get out of the heat. We were delighted about the prospect, and he showed us the entire church including the lower level where we entered. He explained the churches history and told us about its unique features. It was wonderful to see and get such a personal tour and so thoughtful of him to take time from his work to educate us. He also invited us to attend if we were ever there during a service.

Sunday evenings there is a candlelight Compline Service. This service, Saying "Goodnight to God", is about 30 minutes long and non-participatory (you sit and meditate or pray silently) as lovely voices sing. An ancient and reverent way to spend a half hour while you are in Savannah. You'll be glad you did, regardless of church affiliation.
