We were welcomed by a very nice lady. She offered local information and gave us a plan to view the museum. Lots to see and plenty of reading material. A very nice first stop before going to the Fort Stanwix sight.

Nice slice of local history. Nothing overpowering but nice. Closes at 3 PM most days. Worth an hour or so. Be sure to walk the area to see the NYFD memorial, the tomb of the reloutionary unknown and the Rome war memorial.

The museum walks you through the years that Rome has existed - Native American settlements, Indian Wars, Revolutionary War, Erie Canal, modern manufacturing, and Griffiss U.S. Air Force base. It is an interesting museum with some unique artifacts. It's not slick or new but it...More

Perfectly located adjacent to Ft Stanwix. Interesting artifacts illuminate area history from before the American Revolution to the 20th century.
