My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit for this seasonal event. It's educational, hands on and authentic. I lived experiencing the fort and the staff who were performing living history. It's a new Tradition!

Lots of volunteers were out, pitched period tents, and showed how life might have been from the Civil war and the Oregon Territory Period. Great fun for families with middle aged children. Toddlers would not find it interesting. As an amateur military historian, I thought...More

This fort is beautiful and interesting, with helpful staff. With the airplane museum which is also part of the complex (planes from WWI, primarily), it made for a perfect 60-90 minute visit before we went to the airport, which is minutes away.

I would recommend stopping at the Visitor Info Center before visiting the fort. There is a very good 30 minute film that explains the history & restoration of the fort as well as several info signs & artifacts. The original fur trading fort burned down...More

On site is only the Grant House. However, 3 short blocks West, (past the roundabout) will open up a wide variety of restaurants, bistros and pubs that will suit just about any appetite!

Not at the Fort but there are several near by. In my opinion, Compass Coffee, a local, privately owned coffee shop, has the best coffee in town. It's on the corner of East 9th Street and Washington St.
