We took our boy scouts here, what a great place! The tour guides were wonderful! Very informative about the house and surrounding areas. Will definitely back!

I read many of the reviews before we visited and did some online research, so hereinbelow are some tips that might help you should you decide to visit. Disclaimer: I am a history buff and a huge fan of all that is and was Stonewall Jackson, the sole purpose of this trip was to see the burial site. When we... More

I stopped there out of curiosity one time and a friendly park ranger explained the story about how Stonewall Jackson's arm was buried there after it was amputated. I was quite amused by this. Virginia takes it's Civil War history very seriously!

The final resting place of Stonewall Jackson's arm is part of a National Park Service property which includes Ellwood Manor, a plantation dating to the late 18th Century with links to the Battle of the Wilderness and Battle of Chancellorsville. By all means tour the house before exploring the rest of the property. The grave is a short walk from... More

Located on the Battle of the Wilderness field, Elwood (Lacy House) family grave location. Interesting story. The docent at the Elwood (Lacy House) does a good job of giving the history of the house and how Jackson's arm ended up where it is.

Our very 1st place of historical knowledge as a family to VA back in 2010. We got to tour the home where it all took place. What a knowledgeable staff working there at the time we visited around Christmas time.

There is more here than just the arm of Stonewall Jackson. The plantation and home are a great spot to continue your civil war journey. Elwood played a pivotal role as a Confederate Hospital and also as a Union HQ. The house is very old and very well preserved. Worth spending a couple of hours to explore and learn.

If you like interesting civil war facts that are a bit odd this is for you. The arm has its own grave and cemetery that my boys 8 & 9 thought was cool. We just missed Ozzie Osborne by a day as he was filming a special with the travel channel. The grounds are beautiful and the house here offers... More

Oh, this is the most fabulous arm grave I have ever seen! The view is superb and the creep factor is very low. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting or for a unique first date.
