went to Chena Hot Springs and it is very impressive. Fully contained with its own energy, food sources, employee housing etc. Ate at their restaurant--had the Thai Shrimp Curry. Very tasty but had "intestinal" problems 20 minutes later. Two drawbacks: all the activities I wanted were booked and the toilets in the restaurant are very small and hot.

It is 45 mins tour only and I read it somewhere like two hours tour, but Museum is pretty small and after taking some pictures, you gotta sit on the aurora ice bar and chat with bartender/guide and sip the apple martini. Ice glass with melt on your lip and sitting on the ice bar is a very neat experience.... More

I would save the 15 dollars and spend it on something else. Some of the carvings were interesting, but all in all disappointing.

We lived in Fairbanks for 5 years & every time we had visitors I brought them here! I probably have been here 6-7 times - and loved it every time! It's only an hour drive from Fairbanks & I've seen moose on Chena Hot Springs Road almost every time (so it was a great way to be sure visitors got... More

First of all, the carvings were cool, and it was probably worth the $15 to tour the ice museum. Another $15 for appletini at the ice bar probably wasn't. On the plus side, in the winter, it's warmer inside than out. I enjoyed the tour, but it's only given every two hours, so each tour group is relatively large. The... More

A half day trip to The Chena Hot Springs was made even more interesting with the Ice carvings and sculptures. Having an Appletini in an ice Martini glass at the ice bar was icing on the cake!

I was really looking forward to this ice museum visit. Its small but has some gorgeous sculptures like 2 knights jousting and a whole bar area made of ice sculptures. Even the bar stools that swivel. They serve a $15 appletini that has just a novelty value. as its served in a martini glass carved of ice. But thats the... More

The Aurora Ice Museum is impossible to describe with ordinary words. It has to be seen and experienced in person. The beauty of the sculptures, the building itself, the staff, all great! A place not to leave off the bucket list.

The ice bar was neat the appletini was so/so. I just did not understand why most of the ice displays were beds. Very odd to me.

We stopped by the ice museum on our visit to Chena Hot Springs. It is fun and beautiful for a brief 30 minute visit. If you like alcohol the appletinis are strong and provide a great photo opp drinking from the ice glasses. I'd buy one and let each person get their photo as we didn't think they were super... More
