Despite the cold, it was a beautiful and historically important place for me to visit. The rides are closed for the season, but looking at the structures, and walking the restored boardwalk was reassuring.
If you aren't from the NYC area you have no idea what this place you've seen on TV if really like. GO. The area is very interesting to drive through. The beach and boardwalk are clean and well done. Go during the week to avoid...More
Visited this beach with family, located about 1.5 km from Brighton station. Really beautiful with only pebbles, no sand. Lot of seabirds and waves to add excitement. Surrounded by large number of restaurants and gift shops. Perfect place for day picnic. Ideal for surfers.

Away as far from Coney Island side. Go to the other side - the beginning of Brighton side, always much calmer and not too many people. Facilities to change and bathroom are nearby. Enjoy your sunbathing!

Katya -- while you will be able to walk on the boardwalk a lot of the places on the boardwalk will not be open. I went June 15 (ish) and we made a point to go during the day as the stores were not open that early in the season. When we got to the Brighton Beach section of the boardwalk there were more restaurants available to us. We even walked through the "town" area of Brighton Beach and bought ethnic foods and gifts to take back home for family!
