The Gowanus Canal is literally a toxic dump. The surrounding areas are coming around but literally think of the green slime river.

Gowanus Canal is just an industrial area, not worth to see for tourists. From there you can easily move towards 4th avenue and Prospect Park.

Well, if you like the site of putrid green water, and your nose can handle the various odors coming from the canal, I might imagine that seeing this "attraction" is for you. Seriously, I can't understand why anyone would want to see the Gowanus Canal....More

Traffic, traffic, traffic...... The area is well kept (if you can get to it). Plan plenty of extra time if you are headed in this direction. Construction abounds everywhere...
