Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I can’t get enough of this place. It’s an absolutely amazing place to not only visit the local Anglo Zulu war battlefield sites with a first rate guide. It’s also a place to chill and unwind; go for a walk amongst the wild animals. Or just relax with a drink.

Food and accommodation is again first class and the staff are willing to go the extra mile for special requests.

Thank you Nicky, Doug and Team for welcoming us to your home and look forward to seeing you again next year.

Isandlwana should be experienced from the local mountain tops in order to get a Zulu perspective of British encampment and strategy.

This was the most fascination full day's battlefield tour narrated by our personal guide Paul, also our host at Rorke's Drift lodge.
Amazing views that captivate you, the story unfolds and until you are actually there you cannot believe how this monumental piece of history took place.
Brilliant tour, the best event that we experienced in our two week trip to Natal.
The battlefield sites and 1879 brought back to life once again- humbling...

The landscape has not changed. You can see every detail of where the saving of the colors took place or the fugitives crossed the Buffalo River and the graves of the heros who escaped but perished in the final attempt. A remarkable experience.

As part of my stay I completed the walk to Fugatives drift the location in which those fleeing the battle of Iswandhala tried to escape to the alleged sated of Natal across the buffalo river. You can only imagine the chaos and fear .if you like your history this is a bucket list trip.l

We were fortunate enough to be staying at Fugitive's Drift Lodge, but we made the mistake of going on our first afternoon - which we didn't have to - thus losing the chronology. Save it till the end of the tours if you can.

A sad and poignant reminder of a company of British soldiers that were wiped out by an overwhelming Zule force.

My Husband chose the entire three country holiday for a visit to this and one other battle field. The history details I found fascinating. The destroyed buildings have been reconstructed. It has a little shop but sadly closed before we left. This is worth visiting.

Only a stone plack to remember this great battle where a huge force of Zulus attacked a small British garrison and was eventually repelled. Lovely countryside around here in the middle of nowhere, but without the atmosphere of the time.

We could not have expected anything more. The place is simply superb from start to finish of our stay. We had tours of Rockies Drift and Iswlanda battles by people who can bring history to life. Both sides of the conflict have their story and explained by people who have family experience of the war. Their are walks with in the property to a grave from the conflict. While we were there we saw giraffe strolling through with a surprise of a welcome drink of gin and tonic. The views from the library are stunning. Food is served communally and the fire pit is wonderful to sit around for pre dinner drinks.
