Shen Wan San is a very rich merchant during the end of the Mongol empire and the beginning of Ming Dynasty. Shen's residence in ZhouZhuang is still being preserved and entry is free, except for the 2nd floor which cost RMB10 per entry. like many places in China…. overcrowded. Interesting I imagine from a historic point of view, but you would need to really arrange a private time to visit. Not impossible, but needs contacts with the tourism beureau.

If you don't read Chinese, make sure you have a guide to tell you about the historical significance of the previous owner, and to translate the stories told on the bronze wall carving along the corridors of the house.
