Clear water, clean lots of choices for food and seating. Sellers not at all pushy. Best day out .Visited December 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 16 December 2023
- Ellismc1Ubud, Indonesia166 contributionsMaybe my favourite beach in Bali.I loved everything about this experience. The drive from Klungkung is beautiful and nearly all coastline and as you get nearer, the vistas of Mount Agung are suitably imposing. The drive to the beach after paying the entrance fee is a little uneven and bumpy, but there is a point when you round a bend and see your beautiful destination stretched out below you. It’s a WOW! moment. The beach is well serviced with clean toilets with tissue paper and working flushes. The eateries are numerous and of good quality and on the day that I visited the beach was not crowded and there were no large groups, just couples and small families. The water was calm, shallow and blue green without litter. It felt a little more upmarket to the regular public beaches of Bali. On the day we were there, we left around 4pm as did many other tourists and the beach became a popular spot for locals to hang out.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 May 2024
- KristinaBPanama City, Panama25 contributionsGorgeous unspoilt sandy beachA gorgeous beach that feels unspoiled. Good amenities, restaurants, showers, toilets, changing rooms. With fresh fish dishes galore. The ocean is swimmable but strong with some big waves. There is a small fee to enter the beach area maybe 20k pp and the car park is at the bottom of the hill.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 8 September 2024

This place has so many names.Virgin Beach,Pantai Putih,Pidgeon beach and the list goes on.We have been here before but this time decided to hire a bike for the day and make our own way there so we were not limited in time.Managed to get there but went to the locals entrance which is cheaper entrance fee but means leaving your bike at the top of the hill and walking down.I knew from last time that there were scenic lookouts along the way when you take the first road in from Candi Dasa way.Much to my husbands annoyance but I wanted to take photos.Local entrance is 20000rph.Tourist way in is 30000rph but as I said there are some great spots to take photos.Once we parked(it said 2000rph) but we didnt have to pay.Not all of the beachfront restaurants were open but we sat down outside Virgin Beach Cafe and settled in with seats, umbrellas and drinks. The water is clean and really refreshing.Waves rolling in as the tides came it.Massages on the beach from Annie and Ketut.Started off as a foot massage but they were so good it went to a full body massage for 100000rph and they were better than most of the spas we had been to.We were there for around 3 hours but you could spend all day here.Worth the short trip in from Candi Dasa of about 8kms.Food and drinks, toilets right there on the beach

Avoid this beach at all costs. You have to pay an entrance fee to visit a beach that resembles a rubbish tip. The beach is covered in plastic waste and dead fish, lined with overpriced restaurants and sunbeds are pay to use.
Finally the undertow off the beach makes it an unsafe place to take children.
Bali us an amazing island full of friendly, wonderful people; do not taint your Bali experience by visiting this place

Visiting this beautiful beach during the quiet time is a treat. I had always avoided it because of the crowds. My tip is to take the second, well signed road further along if travelling from the north. This road takes you all the way down to the beach. Instead of the smaller road with many steps down. I parked right near the Fishermen Cafe.
This family run cafe is so clean with excellent toilet and shower facilities, delicious food and sun beds. I had fresh mahi mahi beautifully prepared. A real standout.
Brothers Ketut and Wayan are experienced operators and the attention to detail shows.
Come here and find this cafe. It’s a little further up the beach if you do enter from the stairs. Guaranteed worth it!
A note: don’t come here for the wifi. There is none! Take a break from your phone with no service and enjoy this stunning beach and great hospitality.

We spent a day here. The beach is clean, clear and the water temperature is perfect. There are plenty of local warungs set up on the beach. You can spend the day on the sun loungers, with food and drinks served. Ladies also offer massages for 120,000rp. Overall we really enjoyed our day here. Please note that there are stairs to negotiate to get down to the beach. I would recommend Virgin beach.

Lovely beach but the locals really do need to look after this hidden gem. Lots of plastic washed up but we were told that once a week local volunteers come and clear this but all the cafe owners and the ‘hawkers’ on the beach should be also doing this.
My husband did some snorkelling here and saw some beautiful marine life including turtles but unless this area is more cared for the increase in tourism and development of this beach may have a detrimental effect.
Having said this it is a beautiful beach and we were enjoyed our visit.
Looking at previous comments about the charges (which are minimal) the road that goes down to the beach which is probably through private land has to be maintained and of course you have to pay for sunbeds - these guys have to make a living!

Its simply one of the nicest places to visit in Bali. Virgin beach has stunning views and is in between Amlapura and Candidasa East Bali.
The water is so refreshing here and crystal clear. Best times to visit for a swim i find before lunch then laze around with a beer or two or a massage.
It has a wide beach with many warungs but sadly at the moment many are closed due to Covid.
At the eastern end a warung restaraunt called Fishermen Cafe is our favourite. Grassed lawns, room to move, plenty of cover if the weather turns sour and most importantly great food.
So when here call in and see Ketut at Fisherman Cafe. PS Great massages avalilable here as well.

The place is superb, white sand, hot water and little power. Great spot for snorkeling...full of fish!! Entry costs IDR 20,000 per person, and the rental of 2 sunbeds + umbrella costs IDR 100,000. Shower and toilet available. Lots of little restaurants.

We all love a restaurant on the beach. Well how about a restaurant with that location but also on a fantastic beach.
Yes here at Virgin Beach, Bug Bug, Karangasem near Candidasa Fishermen Cafe is just that.
Surrounded by grassed areas with showers as well nowhere better to relax or perhaps even enjoy a massage after that refreshing dip.
The drinks here are cold and the food
well priced very fair and certainly quantity and quality up there with a lot of restaurants.
Please try including a delightful swim and fantastic views entering the area will blow your mind.
Thanks to Wayan for excellent service as well.

We are staying in Candidasa is it possible to get a boat around to this beach from there? We will have our elderly parents with us and they would be unable to walk from the car park, so was thinking a boat may be a better option
Written 5 June 2019
I haven’t tried yet, but I saw there are boat rentals from local fishermen in Candidasa or Blue Lagoon beach. It shouldn’t be far.
