This place is very very nice, spectacular and unique. You can go there by motorcycle or by car. There's a road head to the parking area, you must pay some ticket (very cheap) in the middle of the road. I paid more than entrance fee, I said it's okay, no need to change, but he don't want my money! He insist to give me the change.....what a surprise honest people....

If you use car, then you'll probably get the unique amazing experience from the local. When you almost reach the parking area, some local will follow you from behind, they know what to do. When you came out from the car, they will ask you if you want to Bukit Asah, if you say yes, they will tell you it's far far away by walking, the truth is true! It's so far away from parking area, small road with many turns.

They're very kind people and very very honest, they'll tell you to use their motorbike, drive it by yourself and return it to the parking area with a key in it, while they go to harvesting coconuts or farming. It cost you only Rp 30.000,-, they will tell you to use as long as you want, even they suggest you to go explore the Virgin beach (Pantai Bias Putih or Pantai Pasir Putih or White Sand Beach) near there (actually no so near)......the problem is if you can't drive a motorbike because they don't want to waste their time to drive you there, they better work in their farm, they only try to help you because it's real far to there by foot....honestly, if it was me, I don't want my motorbike go there because the road ups and down a lot....

I use his motorbike to go to the hill......it's spectacular view, very beautiful and very calm.....somewhere in the road there's a sign to the Virgin Beach, if you want go there, just follow the sign. Sometimes people camp in this area. It's amazing view especially when not a soul in this attraction. But as a result of this camping ground, there's a lot of rubbish left by the camper, typically nasty tourist.....

You can explore the hill as long as you like, but in the noon, it's so hot. Maybe its good in afternoon......this place worth to visit.....

Back to the parking area, there's a local help us with the parking, I think it's a park man, but when I give him money for parking, he refuse with a smile. I know Balinese people but never meet like people from Karang Asem, great Balinese people!

Bukit Asah is a new tourist attraction in East Bali, precisely located in the village of Bugbug. A tourist spot located on a hill that has a charming scenic charm. The right time to visit this place is during sunrise and there is also a stall for a break.

Bukit Asah located in Bugbug village Karangasem. Have been there several time.

It's easy to get to Bukit Asah ( Asah Hill). From the main road of Candidasa - Bugbug turn right at Bugbug village junction eiyh the climb up small road.

Arrive at the middle of the hill, you can have stop to see the view of Bugbug village at down and surround also the mistical Agung Mountain as a background.

Continuing up, you will end at dusty road. Not vaped yet due to this object just new known and opened to public. If you use motorbike, you can bring yout motor bike directly to the place.

But when you use car, you need to park your car in side of dusty road quit far away from the object. Need to walk little bit more around 1 km. That's paud when you arrive at Bukit Asah.

You can see magnificent view of the Lombok strait and also beautiful cliff and small island that called "Pulau Paus" as background.

Good to come on sunrise in the morning or have camping there at the wide garden of bukit Asah. You also can come at the sunset time to get perfect sunset or just relax.

If you want to come to Virgin beach that a pathwalk down which you just nees to walj or can use a motor bike to go to virgin beach.

Come with your partner or family to get relax at Bukit Asah.

A stunning and unique place that mainly the locals go to. Its about a 1.5 kilometer walk from the carpark ( or get one of the locals in the carpark to take you on a motorbike). Its one of those walks that starts going downhill, so be prepared to walk back up afterwards. So worth it though, with beautiful ocean views and the view back towards padang-bai making it worth a look. Great photo opportunities, and its a view that not a great amount of tourists get to see. The track isn't paved so wear appropriate footwear. Plenty of little huts selling drinks and snacks as usual in Bali so don't worry if you forget to pack water.
So worth the effort to visit.

We've been here last year as we found out on Google Maps there's a camp site located. The tents are around 300.000 IDR per night, including a BBQ, electricity and usage of the bathroom facilities. Buy your own beer/wine in Candidasa, ask a local fisherman to get you some fish and bring some background music. Mainly locals who find out about this place. Sunrise is amazing at this spot! Walking distance from Asah Hill you find Pantai Pasir Putih. Chilled place and good for a swim. Definitely recommended!

Bukit Asah or Asah Hill is located on Jalan Raya Bugbug, Manggis village, Karangasem regency. This place can be reached by driving 1,5 - 2 hour by car.
You can set a tend in this place and stay overnight or you can also rent a tent with a local people. Last time,me and my friends (6 of us), rent two tents and ask the local people who managed that place to cook us a dinner. It was cheap, we only paid Rp.100,000/person for all - retribution tickets, tents, dinner, the firewood to set up the fire during the night.

The most beautiful thing you can see is The Milky Way during the night. We stay out of the tent until 2am to watch this magical thing. So beautiful. Beside that you can also enjoy the beautiful view during the day, wide open ocean with deep blue color. Very Fantastic.

The local people and its government still developing this place. The road is tough to reach the camp side. Hopefully they can built proper road with the retribution tickets we paid.

Jan 2017, something going on here. Now the hill isn't spectacular, because someone build a resort here, so messy and confusing. Dirt and rubble everywhere, they cut the hill for road or something, many heavy equipment moving around, many worker too.

So you must walk to find some little hidden place to enjoy the view. The path now so rough even for motorcycle, so be careful when you go there. But still you can enjoy Virgin beach on the way back from the hill.....

Bukit asah is just so beautiful. I can see the ocean clearly from uphill. I parked my car down side and hike up to 2 Km to the hill. The road is dusty and while hiking i met a group of motor trails doing off road at the same path that i passed through to the hills. Should be more dusty than before. The uphill view is fantastic since not so many people knowing this place yet, we can enjoying the scenery without noise.

You can asked local people that sell food and drink uphill to bring you to virgin beach at down side by motorcycle and it costs idr 10.000. He will wait you while you enjoying sunset at the beach and he will bring you back to parking area.

this place offers you fresh air, challenge and wonderful view, it will be good if you can visit it after rainy season, it will be green and less dust around. don't forget provide yourself with hat or umbrella since it's hot, and if you go by car, you have to park your car quite far then you have to hike for about 2 km, it will be challenging and tiring since the road is a bit difficult to pass, but there is also ojek that you can hired for around 10,000 rupiahs to get you to the top as well as go back to the park, make sure you wear proper shoes for this activity. the indeed so amazing in the top of the hill you can see beautiful panorama of the beach as well as green trees around you. you also can do camping in this place, don't forget to contact the local people about the location to build your tent
