We were whisked through a fast scripted tour of the factory. The only consolation is the free cup of tea at the end. More of a tourist trap and probably pays commission to the driver/guide if you buy some products there.

So disappointed by this trip. The whole reason we went to Sri Lanka was inspired by my primary school geography book with a photo of a smiling tea plucker on the cover . It seemed so exotic and romantic.- I wanted to see for myself...More

I can only review based on my own visit but I found this stop to be worthless. The "tea factory" wasn't working and didn't look like it would be very interesting if it were working. (We visited a tea factory in India in 2013 which...More

It was nice for a short visit. But given a long mountain way and 2-hours' driving, I expected a bit more from this place. The mountain view was nice. You can take a tour of the factory but it was limited to a small tour...More

I was very disappointed with this. I've toured many 'factories' over the years and found this to be the very least rewarding. "Tour" took about 10 minutes!! First room saw some tea leaves in containers; then looked at pictures on wall; then looked at some...More

A visit to the tea factory (MacWood), started with a complimentary cup of tea and then we were given a brief tour of the different stages of the tea drying, blending process. It was long enough and informative enough, but not a wow experience. The...More
