Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As we walked through this small forest, we kept hearing loud sounds of bad music coming from the town/houses/buildings in the area. So it didn't feel like we are in a forest at all. We couldn't enjoy nature at all because of the noise. The ticket price for foreigners is absurdly high.

This park was located close to the hotel we stayed at Galway Heights. As it was walking distance from the hotel we wanted to give it shot.
You need to buy tickets, and show identification as theres probably two different rates for locals and foreigners. The trek through the forest is 2km long, there aren’t any wild animals except a lot of birds, therefore if you want to see animals such as deer this isn’t the place. If you are a birdwatcher then bring a bino.
The trek through the forest is easy and not tiring at all, its kept clean and occasionally you might find some litter left behind by visitors, there are many photo opportunities if you like nature.

Still the place is not much famous, especially among local crowd but hghly recommended as a must visit. It is a 2 km walk in side the park and if you are lucky enough, would be able to spot a few wildlife maily birds, lizards, etc. but do not expect a safari type experience. I personally prefer the experince of wet & greenish highland forest as we do not get to enjoy it everyday. Pls pay your highest attention not to leave any garbage inside but footsteps.

Seriously overpriced at $10 USD plus 18% tax for foreign visitors. The park is a circa 1km walk through woods, no views and little chance of seeing any wildlife. Save your money.

The park has a wonderful 2 km stretch of a Nature trail and a path to guide you. We went a bit late in the morning so we didn't see birds but opinion apparently if you go earlier, you'll be able to make it . The trail is ideal for someone who doesn't have a lot of time but wants to bond with nature, the entire thing took us 45 mins with pictures and stops. Glad I ended the year with this and it is worth the money in my opinion

This is the BIGEST ripoff in the whole of Sri Lanka. We were charged over 6,000 srp (£20.00) to enter a park that has nothing in it to be seen, they advertise it as a park where you will see an abundance of wild life.
We were staying at a very good hotel Galway Heights and they are going to advise their clients to give it a miss.

A complete joke. They wanted 4300 to go in. Sorry I'm not paying it. Locals was about 100 rupees. Don't waste your time. Shame as Sri Lanka has some great places to visit but this is not one of them. Beware and if you do choose to go then realise you are being ripped off. Victoria Gardens is charging foreigners 500 which is way more palatable and hence is busier.

A beautiful trail through the national park forest about 2kms. It was raining slightly when we went, so there weren't many birds visible.
Early morning is more suitable if you want to see birds. However, the trail through the forest itself is quite a calm and tranquil experience.

The park felt quite safe even though the some areas can be a bit dark especially on cloudy or rainy days. It's hard to miss the path and the park officials are very thorough in explaining the route.

Scam. Told us the price is 7000 for two persons. Claimed it was governement price. Could not believe it and luckily did not have enough cash. So I asked ir I can pay with card. They told me “we take your card and after you come back, give it back to you”. That was the final NOPE. Beware!Scam. Told us the price is 7000 for two persons. Claimed it was governement price. Imagine a place where you would be charged over $10 for 30 minutes in a forest... Imagine a place where the only animals you can see are a crow and a stray dog that generously accompanies you through a wasteland where the only birds are to be found in photographs on occasional billboards ... A place where they refused to give us a list of animals to be seen...Oh wait it is not a nightmare. It is Galway’s Land “National Park”... the rip-off of rip-offs. Hard to do in a country where the tourist rip-off is an official national sport, but this one tops the list hands down. Whatever you do, don’t go.
