Honestly, Yilan is just a rural city southeast of Taipei, there's not much to see here, other than to relax. This Lanyang Museum is very modern and cool looking compare to the rest of infrastructures in the area. I suggest just taking a picture outside it and go

There are lots of exhibits that give you a crash course on the history of Yilan through various expects of it from history, natural life and culture. But what is more famous is the strange building structure and the bones of the whale carcass that washed ashore years ago and exploded during transit. It was in the news, but now... More

Very attractive from the outside. Interesting design. To me from afar it is like a building sinking into the marshland. Inside is bright and the staff really nice. Free entry for people over 65 is fantastic value for the elderlies. 3 levels of history of the area is interesting. The film describing the come about of the museum is very... More

Very modern museum that shows the geological, environmental, and human factor involve making Yilan. The presentation in Chinese and English was good. The artifacts are illustrational. There was some traditional Chinese opera entertainment which was good. However, the museum should have identified the animal and insect that they use to represent Yilan. To most people, they do not know the... More

There are great displays and multi-lingual information on the history of the district. Wee worth the visit and a couple of hours.

This is an interesting museum with a lot of geographic and historical information about this particular local area of Taiwan. The architectural design of this museum is modern and worth a visit just to look around the building. There is a little cafe inside for tea or lunch but the choices of food are limited. Visitors should be able to... More

The building is well designed and been kept clean even after a heavy rain by a typhoon. The staff in the museum is friendly. They are willing to introduce the background of all stuff and answer your queestion.

Located along the shore of Taiwan in Yilan is a fascinating museum open to the public with a modest entrance fee. The theme of this unique museum is is to preserve the culture of YIlan, Taiwan and the balance of nature from the Mountains to the plains to the Ocean. The LANYANG primarily exhibits cultural folk relics and prehistoric relics... More
