The Adena Mansion was built by Thomas Worthington, a prominent Ohioan of that era. He served as both as the Governer and later as a State Senator. Many pieces in the house are the original belongings of the Worthington family. The entire house has been renovated to it's original configuration including the paint and wallpaper. Outside are the gardens including... More

My friend and I had a morning to spend before heading home, chose Adena Mansion and Gardens. The only access to the mansion is via a guided tour, but our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. She added to our experience.

This is a house and museum that is worth seeing! My friend and I were on an Ohio history trip and decided to come here. Wow! It was worth it! The guide was a high school student and she had knowledge and enthusiasm that made me think she was a college history major! The house is lovely and decorated with... More

Worthington was one of Ohio's most influential men in Ohio's history. Tecumseh even came and stayed on the grounds. Our guide was excellent and it was well worth the money to see inside the mansion and listen to the history. You can see the grounds at no charge but I would recommend paying to see the mansion also.

Adena Mansion is a great stop in the fall or spring (it gets a little steamy in the summer). The governor's mansion has been preserved to show daily life pre-civil War, including gardens and a working farm complete with goats and donkeys. Tours are offered but you'll often find car shows, flower sales, dinner theaters and other activities available on... More

I went on a Monday (only day I had) and they were closed but I still toured the grounds, gardens and buildings. It was so peaceful and beautiful! I just sat under one of the benches under a tree and took it all in! I needed that!

We visited on a very hot day ... the house was surprisingly cool. The guides were excellent. The only fault was that the tour group was too large to easily fit into the rooms.

The Adena Mansion and Gardens is a splendid place to visit. Upon parking you enter the museum and while walking thru the museum, you will get a history lesson regarding the grounds and the times of early Ohio. Very well done and interactive. You will have to pay an admission fee unless you are members of the Ohio History Connection.... More

The house tour was fantastic! The tour guide was very informative and the museum had some fun activity areas. There was a fabulous model of the estate in the middle of the museum. We wished we had a chance to spend more time there looking over the gardens and other historic buildings. A great place to go on a beautiful... More
