This is a small enough museum to spend a short amount of time in and still learn things. I found a great-great-great uncle's name on the list of civil war soldiers which led me to do internet research on him and his brothers. I found out I had 3 relatives in the war and each had different stories to tell.... More

I was really impressed with many army devices there. there is a Helicopter simulacrum and other war stuffs. For those who would like to see some war gears, this is the place. It is free!

It's really hard to complain about a free museum, especially one that is as nice as this! It's a relatively small museum that you can see in an hour or so. I thought it was very well done. The museum focuses on the veterans from Wisconsin but also gives a broader history as well. For free it's hard to go... More

This is an excellent museum and free! A concise and extremely interesting set of displays, videos, and exhibits which explain USA involvement in wars from the Civil War right through to the war on terror. The staff were most helpful.

The life-sized scenes, along with the recorded video of Wisconsin veterans' accounts of battle experiences, were powerful. Staff were helpful and the gift shop was above average...materials were not kitsch. Great location opposite the capitol.

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum (which in September 2016 also offers a special exhibit of World War I posters) provides a manageably sized, well designed tour of Wisconsin residents’ role in the military, from the Civil War to the present day. Although the focus is on Wisconsin, it's a good overall look at U.S. military history for the past 150 years.

Our family stopped here today as part of a day trip. Greg and ALL of the staff were helpful, informative and professional. It is obvious the staff care greatly for the museum and those who enter it's doors. The museum itself is free. It was clean and well maintained. The exhibits were educational and well done. There is a very... More

This is close to other downtown attractions such as State Street and the Capitol Building. There are interesting and some unusual items from each war. The Viet Nam collection was especially good, including a helicopter. This is free although there is a place to give donations. Plan on parking in one of the parking ramps as street parking is limited.
