Came to town to see a comedy show. She was excellent! Enjoyed the classic charm of this place. We were glad we did the VIP seating.

A grand old theater, the area requires creative parking skills for popular events, just add some time and allow for a short walk and it will be fine. We enjoyed our visit, but our bottoms noticed after a while that the padding in the seats have become a little flat.

We've gone to this theatre 3x now for a fly fishing film festival. It does the trick, but boy is this place old & rundown. I imagine they don't have the $ to renovate it. They also need more bathrooms for when there is a large event there. The screen for the movies has scratches. The paint on the floor... More

Saw Steven Wilson here on Saturday, June 6th. Excellent concert! Parking around the venue sucks though. Drove around for 15 minutes or so before I finally found a spot on the street which turned out to be about a 10 minute walk to the venue and back.

Here's the deal with the Barrymore, it's a little worn down due to its age but it still retains a lot of charm and panache, it's definitely a special old venue that we need more of in the United States. The real benefit to the Barrymore, and it's strongest selling point is that it draws terrific acts from around the... More

Great little theater - easy to get to, parking in rear. (limited - so get there early, or find roadside parking) It's clean, well heated or cooled (unlike another Madison theater) and has a nice little bar to order drinks from. (Don't order the rum, it was horrid. Hopefully they get a brand name rum soon.)

My husband and I went to the Barrymore to see John Hiatt and there was not a bad seat in the place. The seating for the show was first come first serve and, although we got seats right up front, any seat would have been wonderful. The sound was excellent and the overall experience was very positive.

Great place to take in a concert, comedian, or play. And ticket pricing for most shows extremely reasonable. Hardly a bad seat in house. Historic facility & great neighborhood area for pre-or post show dinner/drink. We took our daughter to see a show & we all had a great time. Only negative is bathroom lines long if a crowded event... Originally built in 1929, the Barrymore is rich in history. Bands like Phish, Lyle Lovett, Blues Traveler and Red Hot Chili Peppers all made a stop here before moving on to bigger venues. There are those who complain about the theater showing its age. It has not changed much over the years, which is its greatest trait. I'd choose this... More

Visited the Barrymore for the first time to see Christopher Titus. Loved the show! The theatre is clearly being cash-cowed. The seats haven't been replaced in, who knows, twenty or thirty years. It feels like the old movie theatres of my youth with years of accrued popcorn grease pounded into the carpet. Dingy too. The sound was the most problematic.... More
