Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The “African Life in the French Quarter” tour by Hidden History Tours was completely awesome, absolutely enriching and a must do if you’re in the Crescent City.

The two hour walking tour lead by Mr. Leon Waters opened my eyes in new ways to a city that we have visited several times. I believe this tour is foundational to not only understanding the history of Africans In Louisiana and America but key to informing how we experience American law, commerce and culture to this day.

Our guide Mr Leon was prepared, engaged and passionate about ensuring that we understood the city’s history and the context of how things came together. Be prepared to see and understand the impact of Moorish Architecture, the role of religion along with the Catholic Church, the economy and politics of New Orleans past.

Great tour!!

Checking out the bayou is an essential part of being in New Orleans and this tour was ideal as one that is ecologically friendly (using kayaks, not feeding the wildlife). Kelly was a knowledgeable and entertaining host.

We had a great time on the combined tour! We especially enjoyed the kayaking through the swamps, perfect for anyone who wants to get some outdoor fun and learn about the particular environment in the area. The restaurant for lunch was a perfect choice and we enjoyed great Lousiana food in a homey atmosphere. The only issue we had was that the company told us the wrong pick-up time and so we waited for half an hour in the cold. However, this is not the guide's fault. Nick was a really nice guy and gave his best to ensure we have a great time, so we definitively give him five stars!

It sounds like there was a miscommunication with one of our third party affiliates. We have since fixed the issue. Thanks for that feedback and we're happy to hear that the day went as planned otherwise.

This was so worth every penny. Our guide Colin was fantastic. He was funny and knowledgeable. The scenery was beautiful and I would definitely do this again.

If you want an intermediate 2-hour kayak trip go with Kelly. Kelly told us about the swamp flora and fauna during two rest stops, and the trip was wonderful. I enjoyed the drive to the site, too. The company has fine equipment and was very organized. What a pleasure.

We had an amazing time on our kayak tour and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to get out of the city for a half day and enjoys being out in nature. Kelly was our tour guide and he was super knowledgeable of the area and was able to educate us on the local vegetation and fauna. On our tour we saw an alligator, a variety of birds including egrets and a bald eagle. Kelly even took us to see a bald eagle nest further down the bayou. All and all it was a really great trip and I'm so happy that we went on this tour.

Our tour guide Sam is both handsome and knowledgeable about kayaking and the area.

He is very patient with beginners and gives very helpful tips to get you through the terrain that one may encounter. I felt that we were put in challenge mode going through some areas, but we all made it through.

Sometimes the water hyacinth moves into the middle of the bayou and creates some interesting challenges. We use this as an opportunity to explain the role invasive species are playing in our ecosystem. Happy you accepted the challenge!

Lovely trip to the beautiful bayou outside New Orleans with our guide Josh who gave us an inspiring tour with stories about history, ecology, biology and woodoo. Really a nice way to come close to the nature of the area and to spot wildlife animals like we did on our tour; an alligator and different birds. Highly recommended!

The trip was well organized. They were on time for pick up and the drive to the launch point was quick. Our guide Mike was a lot of fun and shared really interesting perspectives and information about the Bayou. We went late in the day and it was a little chilly so only one gator but the scenery was incredible. Highly recommended if you enjoy kayaking and nature.

My girlfriend and I joined this tour and had a great time. We are experienced kayakers but even the first-timers were able to easily navigate the water. Mike was an excellent tour guide and was able to answer all our questions about the flora and fauna. We spotted several gators and had no issues with mosquitos. While they do offer shuttle service from New Orleans, I recommend renting a car for the day and meeting them at the drop. Then afterwards you can stop at Middendorfs for a delicious fried seafood lunch platter, and continue on towards the historic plantations.
