Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon...

Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otter enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium-as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.

This aquarium is small, but well designed and easy to do in a few hours. Some BIG tanks for excitement, and emphasis on several different ecosystems within the display areas made it easy to enjoy the variety of exhibits. Quite pricey !!!

Awesome visit! Enjoyed the difference areas, with different animals. Impressive arrangement of birds, fish, turtle's and all types of water animals. One of the best aquariums I've been to.

This aquarium is not as good as many of the other aquariums I've visited. It definitely is not worth the $26 admission fee. With only one way in and out, you have to backtrack in your walking. The exhibits do not flow from one to another,

If you never have been to an aquarium, you might want to go here, but I found the experience to be a complete disappointment. I've been to the Monterrey and Long Beach Calif, aquariums, as well as one in La Rochelle France, and this Audubon facility does not compare. The signage was poor, and displays not very realistic. The submerged... More

We went just as a long the way to Alabama and the parking was horrible and the road construction was the worst. Once you got past all that the aquarium was a nice break from the drive. The kids loved it!

Enjoyed learning about local, as well as oceanic, species. Plan on a half-day. This aquarium is not one of the larger ones in the U.S. but is interesting for its uniqueness. Better to eat at some other place than in the facility, as choices are limited.

I love aquariums and this one did not disappoint. There is an interesting variety. From 3-4 types of jelly fish to 3-4 types of seahorses and a number of more common exhibits, the place is plenty entertaining. A nice blend of common and rare. The second floor has a children's room. It was fairly full when I looked in and... More

I must preface this review with the fact that I visited the Atlanta Aquarium in November which is Excellent. So I was comparing the two the whole time. However the New Orleans Aquarium is a nice place to visit, especially with small children or if you are a couple. I went alone and enjoyed being able to enjoy watching the... More

I love aquariums, I was a volunteer diver at one. This aquarium was wonderful. The exhibits were well organized, a lot of easy to understand about the animals was at our fingertips, the animals are obviously well cared for, and the aquarium was a good size. It was small enough to keep your attention for the entire time, and it... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
