Top ways to experience Rev. Zombie's Voodoo Shop and nearby attractions

The area
Address
Neighbourhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had visited this shop about 8 years ago and it's nearly how I remember (although I feel like maybe it used to be in a different location?). It's a fun little shop and I took my boys (13 & 11). It was their first experience with a shop like this and it was very interesting for them. I found the shop people to be nice. They didn't tell us we couldn't touch things, but there are definitely signs up saying you can't take pictures. We didn't do any readings but it was fun nonetheless. My biggest complaint is how small the shop is. Feels a little claustrophobic.

For those who want to explore the world of voodoo but don't want to dive-in, Reverend Zombie's is the place to be. It is a great opportunity to learn more about the religion and to experience the cool knick-knacks within the shop. While Madam Laveau's House of Voodoo is a sister shop on Bourbon, the "vibes" are much more soothing in Reverend Zombie's. The shop feels more open and lit, compared to the dark, scary feeling of Madam Laveau's. The staff were incredibly polite. My friend got the tarot reading and definitely thought it was worth it, although it was a little on the expensive side ($50).

Sorin was our guide and he did an amazing job! The tour was informative and we had a great time. It was a good distance and local to the French Quarter.

James is a striking man with spunk, character, humor, dramatic poise. He provided exceptional and historical information, with lots of truth and heart.

With his dramatic story telling skills, he captures the attention well all strive to give. James has tones of knowledge about the city of New Orleans and is very helpful with directions and questions about the city of New Orleans.

This man deserves a raise in his pay because he raised my spirits in the glorious city of New Orleans. 🙌👏👊🤜🤛👊👏🙌

We went into the store and saw everything to do with the supernatural, or at least we thought it was.

We could not really touch anything. Specially could not take photos. Felt very unwelcoming! Had a bunch of teenagers, they super excited to go in to shop but we quickly since they felt like there were being watched.

Can’t touch anything. Can’t take photos. Can’t read their books where they have a bookshelf FULL OF BOOKS. How do I know if the book is any good? I’m supposed to waste my money to find out? Can’t touch their “wishing well” which looks like merchandise. The clerk behind the counter YELLS when ANYONE does any of the things mentioned as if there an earthquake. I thought it was a store where consumer purchases goods, not a museum. Several signs of “if you break you buy”, “no touching”, and “no photos”. I wanted to send photos to my friends to see what souvenirs they wanted and I couldn’t take any. Let me know when I can come back and actually view items that I’m planning to buy.
