Neighbourhood: French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our entire family are avid readers. We look for little bookstores wherever we go and this one did not disappoint. They only allow around 6 patrons at a time since it's so narrow/tiny - but it was spectacular! The selection was diverse, it was very tidy/neat, and it felt like you were stepping back in time. Highly recommend this charming spot.

A quaint little shop with a mix of mostly new and some used. Look closely and you can find some amazing books.

There wasn't much to see, but it was a cool place to stop in. My boyfriend bought the book Faulkner wrote while there, so that was ironically awesome.

I love walking around bookstores, and I never come back from my travels without picking up a few new books to add to the collection. This store is gorgeous, also historical. I was considering buying a book from here, however, the lady that was running the store was kind of rude to customers that were coming into the store (max of 6 guests at a time), but people outside cant see how many guests are already in the store. This place could benefit from helping customers know when to come in, rather being than less than kind to the ones that do enter, even if its not at the right time.

Everybody talks about the music of New Orleans which is undeniably fantastic but I was pleased to learn of the tremendous literary contributions this fascinating city has made. One of American's greatest writers William Faulkner got his start writing his first novel in this enchanted building on Pirates Alley. The shop is also something of a shrine and museum dedicated to several significant writers.

We were running around looking for this place. Hard to find but worth the search. You have to get out of the car and use the your phone gps and it is not on a road but an alley between buildings. It was small and cramped but the lady working there helped us find what we were looking for. If you want books on New Orleans or Louisiana, here's your place.

If you like books and antique buildings with history and you don't mind small spaces you will love this great book store. If you by chance write like I do, get a book then go write at the pub alley way next door. Sometimes there are credit card issues so bring cash. Great place to go, price is higher than expected but not bad.

It was a quaint little store with built in book cases and lots of interesting reads. Being inside was a great feeling and hearing the history of the place. We did end up buying a few books. Definitely a place to visit and browse around if nothing else.

Faulkner Books is one of my very favorite places to be. Never have I left New Orleans without pile of New Orleans themed books purchased there. The agenda is check into the hotel, stop for a cocktail, go buy books.

Wandered down a Pirate Alley and found this place. Took a picture of the plaque about Faulkner, went inside and looked at the 4 bookcases of books. Said hello to the nice lady sitting inside and then left. Unless you are a big Faulkner fan, I'd skip it.
