Tipitina's has been there for over 30 years. It has current & upcoming bands playing there and is becoming a rare breed of such places... Reminds me of my college years. The sidewalk is decorated with steel plaques of the bands that have played there. My memories go back to the Radiators... Friendly place to go for a musical night... More

If you're staying in the Quarter, you'll need to take a cab or drive out. But depending on who's playing, it's worth it. Fairly large space, well stocked bar (drink prices seemed average), plenty of room to dance if you're so moved. Cool club that's hosted many legends, ticket prices seem very reasonable ($12 for a Saturday night show when... More

Great spot for the best in live music. Watch out for the hurricanes, which sneak up on you! Take a taxi - they'll show up after the show to take you home.

Listen to the music - a real treat. Try it if you can - down and dirty. A total classic place. Nothing to dislike if you understand where you are.

The music is outstanding. I'd go every night if I could. Atmosphere is amazing to say the least. I try to never miss this place when I am in town. It's right in the center of the action so no reason not to go.

This place has concerts all week, but on Sunday nights they have a Cajun Dance Party. Live Cajun band plays music while the locals and tourists get together to dance the night away. Don't worry if you can't do the Cajun dances, plenty of locals are more then willing to teach you. I am not a dancer, in fact, I've... More

This place is truly amazing! Musicians come from all over to perform on this stage graced with a giant portrait of Professor Longhair...if you come to NOLA or if you are a local be sure to watch their website and go catch a show. Last time I was there Jim Belushi was performing songs from the Rolling Stones!! That's what... More

Smitty was a fantastic local ambassador who made everyone feel so welcome and he was full of dance steps to share. The rice and beans... More

It's a great foundation doing good things. Support the arts! The bartenders were great. There wasn't a bad spot in the house. It's standing room only.

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
