After walking around the quarter we realized it was getting late, went into Snug Harbor for a burger, found the kitchen closed. Now what?... thank you Pedi-cab guys, especially Mag. She toted us to Chartres st. Had to drop off at the corner due to...More

Some good restaurants and shops. More low key than Bourbon and a whole lot less ghetto than Decatur. Make sure to visit the Chartes House for some great bbq shrimp! In October 2015, the entire 100 block (closest to canal) is being torn up and...More

Like most of the New Orleans this street has a great vibe and some great bars with live music. We were there for Mardi Gras and it was nice to escape from Bourbon Street. This still had all the buzz, but more upmarket than Bourbon...More

Chartes street has small boutiques on it. It's a nice street to walk. There are restaurants and places to drink along the way.

There are lots of good restaurants and bars as well as interesting residences along Chartres Street. This is a great place to stroll and avoid all the chaos of Bourbon Street.

Faubourg Marigny & Bywater
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward,
the Faubourg Marigny & Bywater environs are largely
residential. Of course, folks around here love to go
out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere
in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the
festivities, well then so much the better! Home to
some of the most revered live music venues in New
Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining
