If you are searching for good old Jazz in the Borboun Street you will only find it here in Fritzel's. Come early to get a good place right at the piano. Ist worth to stay 1 to 2 hours. I loved it. It was the only Thing made my visit worth.

I travel to NOLA 2 or 3 times a year and I always pop in to Fritzels for a set or two, especially if Richard Scott is playing. I really enjoy traditional jazz instead of the discofied commercial rock always set at ear splitting volumes that predominate on most of Bourbon Street. Fritzels is a gem. The admission charge is... Was looking for some genuine jazz in amongst the mayhem of Bourbon St. Small place with excellent house band(s). I went out on my own first night as wife stayed at the hotel with our kids. Took her back with me the following evening as enjoyed it so much. Really friendly feel and attentive table service as you enjoy the... More

This is the best live Jazz in the French Quarter! The venue is small, but perfect for the experience. The house band can play virtually any jazz song you request, no matter how obscure. Their CD's are wonderful and can be downloaded on I-Tunes! Great European beers on tap as an added bonus! A real must for jazz lovers!

We were in New Orleans for 5 nights. The first night we went to Fritzel's for a drink and to listen to some jazz. We then went back every night after dinner. This is Bourbon Street's best kept secret - away from the noise and insanity and drunken tourists we found nice old- time jazz with some true talents. The... More

Get there by 8:40 for the 9:00 show to nab your spot for the band in this tiny place, and one drink minimum (domestic beers $8 each!) so nurse that $$ drink and tip the absolutely fabulous NOLA-style band. If you came to NOLA to hear jazz, this is the place.

I wasn't going to review this place because I want to get in next time I go to New Orleans, but I see that plenty of other people have already let the cat out of the bag. The negative reviews are about the drink service, but you don't go here for the drinks; you go for the music, and it's... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
