Whether gay, straight, trans, or other, this place is not only rocking an awesome crowd and bartenders, but some of the best Queens in the Quarter. Shows are every Friday and Saturday, and they are open to all. I guarantee you will have so much fun here!

By FAR, this was our favorite gay bar in New Orleans. Within a few minutes of walking in, we were chatting with down-to-earth, colorful locals, we had easily ordered two cheap, stiff drinks from an awesome bartender...we'd even been introduced to the friendly owner! Charming spot with charming people, a laid-back vibe, plus great prices. Wish we would have stayed... More

A fun and lively bar. It's nothing fancy, but it did have a nice crowd. Fun people and the bartenders were very friendly. Prices were decent.

We heard about this place on a google search and then we ended up walking past it on the way to Frenchman Street and decided to visit after lunch. So glad that we stopped in this little bar. It is small and the bar is U-shaped for easy dialogue. The four of us sat at the small table and ordered... More

Stopped by a couple of mornings for the best Bloody Mary. We had pickled beans and at least 5 olives, with your choice of vodka. Bar tender was very friendly!

Everyone is friendly. The bartenders are great and remember you. No food. Decent price for NO. Do have glassware and takeout cups. One of the few bars on Royal. A must stop if go to the French Market- three blocks away.

This is a great gathering place for locals, between the Marigny and French Quarter. Drinks were reasonably priced, crowd was friendly and...local! Live music on Saturday evening.

It's hard to describe the charm of the Golden Lantern. From the outside you might miss it, a pride flag waiving proudly in the New Orleans sun, plants dripping from their daily hydration and a couple of windows are all that mark this hidden treasure of LGBTQ camaraderie nestled just off the the bustle of Bourbon street. Stepping into it... More

Been coming for S. Decadence for 15 years. Loved the Golden Lantern because of its charm, strong drinks and cheap prices. Asked the female bartender(fat gray hair) for a Bloody Mary, she said she wouldn't make it( it was 3pm and not busy). No big deal so I ordered a vodka soda. She poured me half a drink. It started... Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
