If you're a history fan who likes an entertaining story, take the Historic New Orleans Tours walking tour of the Garden District next time you're in the Big Easy. We learned why the architecture was so different from the homes closer to the French Quarter, which homes had famous owners, and a whole slew of fun fables, superstitions, and tall... More

A group of 4 friends took the 5pm French Quarter Tour on our first afternoon in New Orleans and it was an excellent introduction to the city. The guide, a native of Montreal, was enthusiastic and was very educated about the history and culture of New Orleans. Walking was a great way to start our visit and work up an... More

Our guide, Frank, was both knowledgeable and entertaining. The tour is an excellent combination of history, architecture and fun and interesting stories. It takes a couple of well spent hours to complete and you will be glad you made the effort.

We took this tour because we wanted to see the St. Louis Cemetery and you need to go there with a tour guide. But I'm so glad that we did the tour aside from getting us access to the cemetery. The guide was very intelligent and humorous. Our kids liked the tour so much we did their Haunted house tour... More

David was our tour guide. He did a great job of explaining both the mainstream and "offstream" facts of the area. I liked that he wasn't overly theatrical, as some guides can be. My husband and I really enjoyed this tour!

We took the St. Louis Cemetery No. 1 Tour with David on Jan. 2, 2017. David is an excellent tour guide - smart, knowledgeable, patient, organized, etc. This is one of the best New Orleans tours we have ever done because of David!

We took a historic new orleans ghost tour. Our guide was an history professor and was full interesting and detailed information about the city. The tour centered on places where ghost were rumored to have been seen. I was afraid it would be incredibly corny, but since sightings tend to be where tragedy struck, we learned more about history than... More

We took the French Quarter History Tour with Claudine. She was an excellent tour guide: engaging and pleasant. There is a lot of history in New Orleans, and the French Quarter plays an important role in that history. The tour lasts 2.5 hours and there are almost no places to sit during the tour, so attendees should be n fairly... More

We were lucky to find this tour company in order to get in the St. Louis Cemetery. But then their tour was so good we decided to take their haunted tour and music tour. They are truly the experts!

I travelled solo to New Orleans so to feel more comfortable decided to start with a walking tour after I first arrived. I chose Historic New orleans tours and was very happy with the choice. Meet up location was great where I could get food and listen to some great music waiting for the meet up. Tour guide was great... More

Staying in Algiers

Neighbourhood Profile
Algiers
Sitting pretty across the Mississippi River from the rambunctious French Quarter, the Crescent City’s second oldest neighborhood is as historic and as scenic as any – just a lot less showy about it. With its numerous 19th and early 20th century homes and plentiful parks and riverside green space for cycling and walking, subdued and low key Algiers yields the best views of New Orleans and offers a quiet haven from the hustle and bustle in other parts of town. Most of the area’s activity, for visitors anyway, takes place at Algiers Point where the famous Canal Street / Algiers Ferry has been the main attraction since 1827 and is still giving folks one of the best rides in town at very affordable rates. Restaurants, bars and music venues here all but guarantee the utmost of authentic experiences sans any hype or high prices.
