If you're looking for sunset views, this is the place to go! A beautiful lake with a gorgeous view. Get there before sunset because it fades all too quickly!

Our tour stopped here for a picnic lunch. It was pretty, had a few picnic tables, some simple bathroom facilities, but that was about it. It was a beautiful area so if you are driving on that road anyway, there would be no reason not to stop, but definitely don't make a special trip. If you want a spectacular lake... More

This was our first REAL camping adventure. The campgrounds were beautiful, bathrooms and showers were terrific. Very much a family oriented atmosphere where you felt safe letting kids ride around on bikes, etc. Nice playground area too. A couple evenings there were ranger led programs that the kids could apply towards earning their junior naturalist badges. We stayed the week... More

This was my favorite lake in Custer. It was big, and less crowded than the others. Very peaceful. The campground looked nice and would be a nice place to stay.

Hydrilla, cane, duck weed and sand mud marsh bottom creek with rocks = HUGE BASS. Definitely fish here and bring your Power Pro braid- there are big pikes here too! I am putting the map as an image and have marked the magic spot. You are welcome ;-) lol.

Stockade Lake offers several tent camping options. There are sites up high above the lake and sites in the low area by the lake. A motorcyclist on a large/loaded bike may find the hi sites a bit tight for turnaround, but the loop road is fairly easy to navigate.

This area of the park doesn't seem to get as much attention as other parts, but our family absolutely loved it. We stayed a night in a cabin at the South Stockade campground and we felt like we had found our own little slice of heaven. It has a more remote feel than any of the other campgrounds we checked... This was another pretty man-made Lake in Custer Park, where we stopped for a quick picnic lunch. The backdrop of the mountains and the wooded areas makes the place very scenic and attractive. It was a fairly clean and soothing place with picnic benches, a boardwalk that juts out into the water, a hiking trail, paddleboats, and a little beach... More

We walked our dog around part of the lake. People were fishing, boating, & kayaking. Pretty spot & pretty quite. If I remember correctly I think there was also a small park for kids near the boat ramp.

This is an average lake. There were people fishing on the dock. We saw a turtle eating a trout which was pretty unexpected. I'm not sure if there was a place to swim.
