Attended a performance of "Shipwrecked " on 21 August and the play was interesting enough but the CCC camp setting in the heart of the Black Hills is fantastic. Worth a visit - especially if you are a theater person (we aren't but it was still nice.)

When we vacation I am always looking for a night time activity to fill one of the evenings. The Black Hills Playhouse fit the bill! The night we were there we saw "Nunsense" and at parts I laughed until I cried. It was hilarious! The entire cast was awesome and they roamed through the audience prior to the play. The... More

This playhouse is in Custer State Park in the middle of nowhere! The theatre was very rustic, yet comfortable. Everyone was very friendly, and the play was wonderful. It was a musical called NUNSENSE, and the 5 nuns (they were the whole show) were excellent! I would highly recommend this playhouse. FYI - no cell phone service in that area

We took in the musical "Pageant" this year. What a great show! The quality of every production we have attended at the Playhouse has been incredible. Sets, costumes, sound, lights, acting...all excellent. A fun place to visit in the middle of Custer State Park!

We saw "Pageant" here with our granddaughters and thoroughly enjoyed the humor and the alternate view of life offered. Lots of talent on the stage - a mix of local actors, theater students and interns. The site is also fascinating and an important historic site. It was a former Civilian Conservation Corps camp, lovingly restored and put to a great... More

I am so glad I checked into this before we left home. I had been here many years ago when working in the Hills during college and it was great. Didn't let me down this time and my 10-year-old loved it too! They do a fantastic job, the venue is intimate and the acting and sets are superb. You might... More

The Black Hills Playhouse is nestled in Custer State Park. This location allows for a tranquil night and relaxing atmosphere. The quality of the shows and the performers can not be beat. An added bonus is kids go free night. Each show has a couple nights that kids go free with an adult purchasing tickets. Makes it very affordable to... More
