This drive was amazing! This was a must do! So many neat things to see, the tunnels, pigtails, bridges, and just beautiful nature.this was almost better than Mount Rushmore. Don't miss it!

We were really on our way on motorcycles to "the needles" in Custer State Park, but Iron Mountain Road was enough for us. Hairpin turns, pigtail bridges, amazing views of Mt. Rushmore (don't forget to turn around), and wildlife galore! Take your time and wander though - this is a "not to miss" road!

This was a breathtaking drive. There were amazing views of Mount Rushmore with really cool tunnels framing the presidents. This drive is not to miss while in Custer State Park

So you're vacationing in the Black Hills. Iron Mountain Road is a must do at least once! It's 18 miles & is a two way road, so be careful! There's 3 tunnels, so do your homework before trying to drive your RV through it. We've taken it going North & South, & I recommend going North for the optimum views.... More

Always enjoy the ride here. Lots of loops, switchbacks, pigtails and narrow roads and we got to see a herd of buffalo this time. Still very nice to ride a motorcycle in November. Not for the faint hearted, and takes a lot of concentration and I appreciated this year there was no extra fine sand on the sides of the... More

The iron mountain road, offers some of the best views in the park. It's a little curvy, so if you get carsick, and not a fan of tight roads, don't go on it!

But totally worth the drive. This drive through the Black Hills is very interesting. At times the road makes greater than 360 degree turns, and several of the tunnels are one-lane, so caution is needed. But the views of Mt. Rushmore, especially from the tunnels, is very interesting.

This was so cool to experience. Even in a car you feel like you aren't small enough. It was fun watching a bus go through. It is a beautiful drive up to the drive through cave. you could spend all day at this park

We had all intentions of going into the park to view Mt. Rushmore, however after seeing the monumento from the road in a few places and stopping to take pictures, we decided instead to the Iron Mountain Road. We're SO glad we did!! Georgeous views from almost every turn, you can see Mt. Rushmore from some of the overlooks as... More
