Plan your visit carefully as it is open only on Mondays since 4 PM. However, I found it more interesting ftom outside than inside. I am not sure whether it was worth the 5 €.

February is not the time for a visit, as the place is closed. Nevertheless it is a nice walk from the city and interesting from the outside.

Kaprun was a perfect place for families to stay at lovely small appartements and easy way to ski centers.

I admit that we did not stay too long in this small town, we wandered in high speed. It looks like a lot small towns in the area but here we have a castle to visit, located just outside the city.

The castle is like a scene for historical film. Simple architecture, powerful dominant building. It was realy easy to imagine the medieval period.......

I must admit that we only stopped outside the burg in Kaprun and didn't venture outside. However, it is a very nice photo opportunity, with beautiful vistas and nice surroundings. A stop like ours, short of time as we were, is well worth its time.

We visited during a big mediaeval event which was amazing. Held every year with everyone dressed up very realistically. Music, sword fights, stalls, and loads of atmosphere. Amazing. The castle is imposing close up and has commanding views.

Sadly closed when we went but had a wander around outside and courtyard. I presume there's a cost (not much free here) if you want to enter or walk walls. Not anywhere near as impressive as Welsh Castles (Caerphilly, Conway etc)
