Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We attended the Austrian music and dance show in the castle on the Tuesday evening. The show itself was really good but even better was the opportunity to look around the castle during the interval. The castle was interesting and the views over Kaprun are just amazing.

It has the best view on Kaprun- you can see tbe village, all the mountains, the ski roads, the river.
Couldn't buy a ticket, as it was closed. Seen the inside of the walls, really nice. I think inside is even nicer.
Jn the wibter you have to be cautious with the snow falling from the roof - they warn you.

We paid 5 Euro's each to look around a empty Castle. The outside is impressive but inside disappointing.

Thanks should go to the entrepreneur businessmen who saved this magnificent fortress from a ruinous state some 20 odd years ago. Now a venue for events it is safeguarded for posterity. The massive rooms are basically unfurnished but the view from the battlement walks are exceptional. The castle has a fascinating history which was brought to life by a most enthusiastic and well informed guide (in English) and we really enjoyed our visit.
Burg Kaprun is only open on Mondays at 4.00pm but if you are lucky enough to get the opportunity to visit then I recommend warm clothes in Winter.

Only open for visits on Monday afternoon. One guide was designated to show the English speakers around. He was a very enthusiastic local volunteer, who was part of the team who renovated the castle some years ago. He was very knowledgeable and made the visit very interesting indeed.

We have visited the Burg Fest for two years now and every year we enjoy it so much. The atmosphere is just brilliant. The food was great, the settingamazing and our 5 year old son just loved playing knight for the day. We would highly recommend it to families

February is not the time for a visit, as the place is closed. Nevertheless it is a nice walk from the city and interesting from the outside.

We visited during a big mediaeval event which was amazing. Held every year with everyone dressed up very realistically. Music, sword fights, stalls, and loads of atmosphere. Amazing. The castle is imposing close up and has commanding views.

The castle is open to visits only at Mondays between 16:00 till 17:00, The visit is guided in English or German you can choose.
Nowdays the castle serves mainly as a well kept historical monument and as a place for weddings.
The english tour was guided by an old gentlemen that gave us a lot of information about castle history.
