I had an accident whilst in the car park at the Hintersteiner See on 26th August 2016. The staff at the car park (Andi? Jasmin?) were so helpful and so kind. They rang the police and an ambulance for me and looked after my family. Thank you so much. I am fine now. It's a beautiful, wonderful place.

This is a very nice lake. You pay to park and also pay to use the lido for swimming. You can have a very nice walk around the lake with places to stop for a dink on route once you are on the north side.

We visited the Hintersteinersee on a warm sunny Sunday. We arrived by the free Seebus from Scheffau and stopped for a beer at the lido and just enjoyed the view. There were a number of people swimming, playing football and soaking up the sun. We continued on the open side of the lake and leisurely walked around the other side... More

Hintersteinersee can be accessed by taking the Kaiserjet free bus to Scheffau Dorf (village) and changing to the minibus which goes up to the lake. There is a lovely walk around the lake--pave on the east side but a much more hilly track on the west.

This lake and surround is so incredibly beautiful. The waters are crystal clear and even from a height of 100 metres and 20 metres + out you can see the fish swimming. The walk around the lake is about 1.5 hours but is really fabulous. There are at least three places for refreshments on the way around the lake.

We walked here (couple with 1.5 y.o kid) around the lake. The parking area is paid - but a very low fee. From there we turned left around the lake. On the other end of the lake is a gasthof with some tasty buttermilch, and some nice cakes to eat. From there we went uphill to the alm, but the... More

Dont get me wrong, its a nice place but The Wilder Kaiser area has so many walks with amazing panoramic views, then if you want to go right round the lake there is much better walks for the effort it takes! The Seebus from Scheffau Dorf takes you here for free with the guest card, it would be a 2hr... More

It is a very nice lake with a beautiful view. You can swim in it in summer time and hike around it all year round. The roundtrip is around 5,5km which takes around 1,5hours. It is an easy tour which you can also do with children. In winter, cross country skiing is also possible. If you are somehow around, never... More

Great walk around the lake, half in a wooded area which is cooler than the open road on the other side so decide which way round to go depending on the weather.
