First stop before entering park

A small visitors center showcasing the plants of the park. Good place to get information on what to see and hiking areas within the park

This was my favorite visitor center out of 4. The others were Joshua Tree Visitor Center, Cottonwood Visitor Center, and Black Rock Nature Center. The staff were kind, thorough and generous with their time. They gave us a lot of information and necessary handouts. They answered all of our questions with ease. There was no sense of rushing or urgency... More

If you're entering the park, start here. They have great staff that will take the time to recommend good places to visit according to what you're looking for. There is a junior ranger program that can get the kids on a mission... There is an accessible path near the center where you can see and learn to identify many animals... More

The rangers were busy answering lots of questions. They had nice souvenirs including water bottles and water.

Good introduction to Joshua Tree National Park with exhibits explaining wildlife in the desert. Enjoyed the cactus garden outside the visitor center. Get your maps and last stop to use restrooms with running water before entering the park!

We enjoyed this location with a labeled cactus garden out front. Although small, it was nice to identify all the cool cactus we had viewed earlier in the day. Public restroom, gift shop, and great Rangers here to answer questions.

The Western visitor center is very busy and hence the workers are a bit cranky to say the least. Not the case here, great help, good facility. Rangers are what they should be.
