The free tour is OK but pretty short and happens in about a 50 foot radius of the gift shop. The coffee samples are tasty and the drive up is pretty interesting. We found the prices in the gift shop to be on the high side. We stayed about 30 minutes including the brief tour.

We have done this tour with friends many times and it's always a hoot. Brent is really dedicated to this place; he had the Kona Coffee contract with Costco for years, but some current financial problems are apparently being resolved and the tours have resumed. Pretty good coffee, too.

In a beautiful location, Mountain Thunder is undergoing some trials and tribulations from an unfortunate business situation. You cannot buy beans under the estate's original name (though they have comparable beans for sale) at this time but they are making the best of it by continuing to host coffee lectures by a very knowledgeable young woman. The free coffees are... More

Can't recommend highly enough. The drive alone is worth the trip. Learned so much about coffee itself.

We always enjoy going to local markets and produce plants whenever we travel, so we've visited several. We had never visited a coffee plantation before which made this interesting, but the guide was obviously just going through his paces. I can't fault him, he no doubt has given the same spiel dozens of times a week for who knows how... More

Mountain Thunder is a very natural very real coffee plantation. We got to tour the facilities where the beans are processed. Some of their methods are newer and some of them old school. I think the blend of the two is part of what makes their coffee good. I loved that this was very laid back natural tour and didn't... More

My wife loves coffee and I don't drink it, but we both really enjoyed Mountain Thunder. The free morning tour was educational and informal. Tried three types of coffee and three types of tea. Great stop in the cloud forest! Highly recommend.

What an interesting tour we learnt so much about coffee, coffee plantations and the problems faced by this industry. Gift shop is also worth a visit. The scenery on the way up is simply is parts just breathtaking. You need to enjoy the coffee samples offered, each one is so different
