Beautiful!
Sep 2021
This was a touch more strenuous than expected, but SO worth it. The chance to walk on the beach and to view the salmon spawning, see the wide expanse of Resurrection Bay, and to soak up the peace of Seward was a true treat.

walk to Blue River and best skipping stones! hey, they are glacial...
Aug 2021
wonderful walk to a blue river with salmon, then to a beach with awesome skipping stones- best we have ever found! giant ones that skip so many times and split into more. we went when it was high tide so the trail ended at the beach. gorgeous views.

Pleasant morning hike
Aug 2021
We went first thing in the morning, and were there with the bald eagles and other birds, beautiful temperate rainforest and the river. The hike starts at sea level, goes up a hill,l and then down to the coast & the bridge where there were tons of salmon. A tad strenuous but well worth it!

Breathtaking
Jun 2021 • Family
This place is breathtaking. We went in the early morning and felt we were the only humans around. Bald eagles flew overhead. Our boys skipped rocks and broke their own record due to the smoothness and shallowness of the water. This was definitely my favorite location in the Seward area. The trail was moderate. Not too challenging, and definitely worth the time.

Beautiful hike to a lovely Alaskan beach!
Jun 2021 • Family
A beautiful hike! A bit challenging in some places for our younger daughter, but nothing too hard. We spent over an hour exploring the beach and saw a harbor seal watching us in distance! Way less busy then other hikes in the area. But worth it!

Somewhat strenuous hike but worth it
May 2021 • Couples
Even on an overcast day this trail was a pleasure to hike. Parts can be steep but walking thru a creek and having a bridge added diversity. Finally the reward was arriving to the waters of Resurrection Bay. There wasn’t any wildlife that we saw while hiking but no shortage of people life on the trail. Actually lots of trails we’ve been on in Alaska have been busy with other hikers so no exception here.

A fun trail
May 2021
This was a very enjoyable trail.. give yourself a couple hours. We loved spending time at the bay and beach at the end of the trail. It would have been a nice place for a picnic lunch. No bears sighted end of May 2021. Plus the drive to get here is beauitiful too, along the bay.

Great trail IF you have good weather.
Aug 2020
Unfortunately, we hiked this trail while it was raining. It can be very slippery and steep so make sure to wear good boots. The beach would be great to walk if it was a clear day on a rainy day not too much to see. There were lots of signs that there were bears close by but we didn't see any wildlife on our hike.

Nice trail
Jul 2019 • Couples
This is a nice trail but it can be a bit difficult to find. Our guide book listed the trailhead off of a different street.

Fairly easy overall and Tonsina Point is a nice destination. Other trails are certainly more challenging and dramatic but TC is great for average visitors looking for a manageable hike of two hours or so.

Awesome Little Hike with a Great Beach View
Jun 2019 • Friends
Did this with a group of friends. Short hike with a few small sections of elevation changes. Perfect for a pre-dinner hike to whip up an appetite. The trail passes through a thick forest on one side and a drop down to the beach on the other side (although you cannot see the beach through the trees). Not sure we made it to the end because we came to this beach just after a bridge and we just hung out there watching a large bald-eagle that was bathing and pruning on the beach. Absolutely quite and beautiful place.

There is a $5 fee for parking in the lot at the trailhead.
