Only with a National Park Service Ranger does a cruise through Alaska’s famously beautiful fjords become an educational excursion. Commentary from the onboard naturalist makes the most of this 100-mile (160-kilometer) cruise through the stunning landscapes of Kenai Fjords National Park, including stops at Holgate Glacier and the Chiswell Islands, home to large populations of wildlife. Enjoy a complimentary brunch or deli lunch.

My friend and I stayed in Uncle Steve’s Cabin. The owner, Tom, and his team were SO friendly, accommodating, and genuinely good at their job. It was a very cold night (February in Alaska tends to be) and Tom ensured that we were taken care of. The cabin itself was honestly the best I’ve been to in Alaska. It’s newly built and has full amenities (full bathroom, full kitchen, heating, etc). It may not be the woodsy cabin/camping people expect because it offers so much. I loved the glamping style! The cabin is rustic chic and has floor to ceiling windows so you still feel you’re outside. There’s a porch area and you can walk to the beach, it’s a beautiful spot for a camp fire. This cabin could easily fit 2 families, 8 people, etc, there was plenty of room. The cabin has simple details that made the stay so homey. I found myself thinking “wow I could stay here for a month!” (if only there was the availability!) We also asked about recommendations because with Covid and the weather, it was hard to know what was open. Tom suggested the Lone Chicharron for dinner and it was delicious! Bonus for us, but not a guarantee for every stay, we got to watch the Northern Lights dance and an incredible sunrise the next morning. I cannot recommend the cabin and this team enough!

We signed up for the half day charter in early September. Our charter was scheduled to go at noon and we were instructed to arrive by 11:30 and we did so. After checking in by 11:30 we waited till 1:15 before having anyone in Millers Landing update us on the delay or say anything at all. Once out on the water finally by 1:30, the captain was very nice and was the lone bright spot of the experience. The fishing on the other hand was awful. We had a full charter and all six of us caught zero fish and had zero bites even. We tried a few different spots by that was the only change they ever made to attempt to change our luck. The delayed take off ended up causing us to get poured on for the last hour as well which was unfortunate because the morning had been great till that point. All in all fishing for 4+ hours on a professional charter and not getting a single bite seems pretty bad especially for the price you pay. We read all the good reviews and thats why we booked here so I wanted to make It know that our outing was quite the opposite, even if our experience might be an outlier. Also wear rubber boots as your feet will get soaked.

We had a wonderful half day fishing charter with Captain Paul and deckhand Bobby limiting out of rockfish in about 35 minutes! Some silver salmon were also caught this morning. When we got off the boat we asked for our fishing licenses back and were told they'd be at the office within 20 minutes. We went back 5 hours later and the office person said they think they must have thrown our licenses away! Not sure why staff made the decision to throw away our licenses. Not the best ending to an otherwise fun morning.

I had a great time out with Captain Bill and First Mate Dez!! They made the whole trip worthwhile! They truly cared about each person and wanted everyone to have a great time. Everybody caught fish, and all had fun! 10/10 would recommend!

This is our third trip using miller's landing. The first 2 times we were part of a mixed fishing group. This time we had enough family to charter both a half day and a full day trip. This isn't glamping or glishing. The guides are very helpful to take you to the fish, bait your hook and haul in your catch after you reel your fish to the surface When you heed their advice, you get good results. It helps to have some saltwater fishing experience, but it isn't necessary. You get wet. You get cold. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate. They worked with us to get us out on the water ahead of a storm and were very fair to refund a portion since we couldn't go out the whole day on the second day. We limited out on rockfish in 40 minutes. We caught halibut and salmon, and took 150 lb of fish filets to the packer. The staff has always been outgoing and friendly. We will be back soon.
