Made a long, hard half day hike and made it to the bowl. Some short but very steep sections. Great views of the city and the bay.

For a good workout and awesome views of the bay, harbor and other mountains it is great. Even in the winter it's a great hi,e but it can get slick with out traction treads on your boots. Summertimes it's a great hike and there is a great meadow up there also.

We had a great time. This was a beautiful hike. But, it was foggy when we hiked and didn't realize until we had gone way too far. We live in Oregon and I'm used to hiking until you reach a clear peak. I guess there wasn't one here. We didn't realize this until we had been following the crest for... More

We decided to do this activity as my husband is from Seward. He coaxed me into climbing this bridge with him as its on his bucket list. We took the easier route which in itself is very challenging for the occasional gym frequenter. It's a steep climb with a lot of huffing and puffing on my part. Once we got... More

Make sure to stay within your abilities. The easier route takes you through a breathtaking valley. Take the path beyond the locked gate and head right when the jeep trail ends. Once you hit the valley, the climb can be made along the ridge line and along any of a myriad of paths since they all keep going up. Take... More

If you don't want to run Mt.Marathon with the elite athletes on July 4 in Seward, but want to see the view from the top, there's a hike for you! Take the hiker's trail, not the runner's trail. The full hike climbs 3,022 feet so bring plenty of water and snacks. But on a clear day, you will be rewarded... More

I'm not an avid hiker. Hike up was rough but hike down was a killer. I'm 50 and if you have a bad knee (or knees) I would avoid going all the way to the top. The hike down is rocky and shaky but my kids (21 & 25) loved it !

This is a hike that starts with 3-4 steep legs before the switchbacks start to have their effect. When the trail is wet, as it was when we hiked, the steep sections are even more treacherous. When you break out above the tree line the views are spectacular. A great way to work off your dessert from the previous evening!

went up mount marathon on a rainy day, but stayed warm by just keep moving up the mountain. took the back way so it was easier to the top. saw a moose and her calf and a bull moose at the end of the trail before the jeep trail. had to hike in the bush to avoid the bull moose... More

The trail isn't in the greatest condition, especially on a rainy day. It's steep and muddy in places so be careful. But the higher you go, the more beautiful the views of town, Resurrection Bay and the surrounding mountains. Also, the trailhead is literally right in the middle of town so easy access. 1st and Monroe!
