Captain Craig was awesome! Make sure you book early, I would say at least a month early, as fishing charters fill up really fast! Our cruise ship changed the itinerary the day we left port without any notice and he was so good to work with us and fit us in so we could still go fishing. We booked a 6 hour salmon fishing trip. We asked about halibut fishing in Skagway and he said it wasn't very good there so I'm glad we just booked the salmon trip. His boat is clean and has plenty of space for fishing and walking around as well as a top deck that's great for wildlife viewing. There is a bathroom on board as well. There was no sharing of equipment and he had snacks and water for us. The small boat harbor is right next to the cruise ships and was an easy 5 minute walk to get there. We ended up catching two king salmon that were undersized and a dolly varden trout. It wasn't super great fishing because it was so sunny which drives the fish deeper but Captain Craig worked hard and did everything he could to help us have a good experience, which we did. He even worked with other charters who were out fishing to see what was working and help us catch some fish. In addition to catching some fish we saw several seals (one just barely after delivering a pup!), eagles and waterfalls. Overall we had a fantastic experience with a great captain and a beautiful day!

Each year we try to book with Capt. Craig. He seems to put safety first, comfort second, and caters to each of us. We are booked for our 11th year on White Wing. He even keeps us on the water longer than either of my kids (now teens) can bear, and he always tries harder to catch salmon than we do. We enjoy his talks about the Lynn Canal and the nature in the area. He has a keen eye to spot whales, seals, bears, and eagle nests, as well as mountain goats and a variety of ducks, sea otters, and other salt water critters. We recommend him for being a good environmental steward, and also for his knowledge of geology of the area and history of the Gold Rush eras.

I've met Craig in June 2007 while I went for a two days trip to Skagway Alaska. My friend and I were looking to find a charter that could bring us on the water. We weren't at that point looking to fish as I wanted to do a little ritual for my stepsister that passed away few years before that. Anyway, Craig took us, gave us a good price and we had a fantastic time, adventure, seeing see lions, harbor seals, tons of bald eagles. Every year since, I go for one or two fishing trip with Craig. Got a very nice king salmon and few other salmons. Saw lots of wildlife !!! Craig knows very well the Taiya Inlet and he will do his best so you can catch some salmon. Yes, I ended some times with no fish but what a great experience! On a nice boat, on the water, looking at glaciers, wildlife, fresh air, Alaska!! Can't ask for better I would highly recommend him to anyone!!! Thank you so much Craig and looking forward to our next trip on the water !!!

Went up to Skagway in June, looking forward to catching king salmon as advertised. Knew something was amiss when I asked Craig where we could process our catch as was told there wasn't anyplace in Skagway... not a big deal because there was no catch! This charter is more for the cruise ship crowd that want a closer look at the sights, definitely not a fishing charter. Craig did work hard and seemed genuinely disappointed after a long day of catching little, but similar to other reviews we just trolled back and forth and back and forth not much creativity. A bit of a saviour was we saw some orca's and that Craig gave us a discount.

All King salmon must be OVER 28" to retain and have processed, we did catch fish that charter, but they were undersized King. Weather and tide conditions effect the catch for all fishing trips. I always do my best to catch fish on every charter

After getting a late start due to the weather, we motored out a little ways from town and started trolling. We kept moving around the same area with no success. The captain wouldn't move to any other spots. The majority of the charters I've fished with in Alaska and other places, will move around if the fish aren't biting. Hopefully, Craig McCormick, will take some of the money we paid and fix his boat. To turn the engine off, he had to open a plywood (?) trapdoor to get to the engine, then took a screwdriver and shorted out something. That doesn't seem like a safe way to operate.

As far as moving around looking for the fish. The area where I fish is a deep Fjord one mile wide with the mountains going almost strait up 6000 ft. Underneath the water it's mostly the same. It drops down as deep as 1500 ft. Skagway is unique this way the salmon don't go into shallow coves to feed and then move into another cove and continue feeding. In that scenario moving your boat around might be advantageous if we had shallow coves here but we don't. In this area the salmon cruise along the walls and will hopefully pass by while you are there. If you move you can easily miss them. I have been Charter fishing in this area since 1987 and pryer to that I commercial fished here from 1973. With this group we caught salmon but they were undersize. A few weeks after taking these folks fishing I received an E-Mail asking for their money back. When I refused they threatened to write a bad review. After taking thousands of people fishing that were happy for the last 12 years I guess unfortunately odds are you will end up with people like this. As far as the way I shut off my engine. My shut off cable broke the day before and Skagway Alaska is in a remote area so I had to order the part. The engine is easy to shut off manually.
