Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The tour was a fun short experience if you're looking to get breathtaking views and take a picture at the Canadian border. Marissa is an excellent driver and told us the history of Skagway, the gold rush over white pass, and explained several miscellaneous questions I had about certain things present in the tour, like those weird sticks jutting out from the cliff side, and why there's an 8-mile deep no-mans-land and why that's a thing.
Would recommend taking this tour if you want a nice scenic drive that's about 2 hours, lots of pictures, and it's quieter than the train.

Our driver made the tour! He was hilarious and informative!! We saw incredible views and got to take pictures at the US/Canada border. Several stops to take pictures and the commentary by our driver was the best part! Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Skagway. Loved it!!

The route passes along the trail gold miners had to pass to reach Klondike. Many lakes and nice views.

I loved this excursion! The bus ride up the Summit, seeing the glaciers up close, and WOW the fresh water falls. The view is truly one of the major wonders of the world. FYI --tour is 2.5hrs. There is only one outhouse stop so make sure that you go to the restroom right before the tour begins.

My family and I booked Dennis last minute to tour Skagway as we had a cruise stop there. He was extremely professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and super accommodating. He is smart and funny and holds a rich understanding of Skagway history. This dude knows the ins and outs of the city and all the interesting places to go. His 12-seater van is very comfortable and spacious. He has a general route for the tour, although throws out many other activities along the way, for example, we chose to visit a dog camp to play with pups, stop at a couple waterfalls, and explore a small city in Canada with great ice cream. Dennis was fantastic about presenting all our options so that we could really make this tour our own while still hitting up the key places.
I saw another reviewer post about the "uninteresting" views, with which I disagree so strongly that I needed to address it. I've attached some of the photos I took on our tour with Dennis to show you what some of these very interesting places looked like.

Although we loved Skagway town and it's shops, this tour was rather uninteresting. We started off visiting a graveyard, where a character called Soapy was buried. He was part of the original gold trail people, but he took advantage ad made money out of people. After this we drove higher and higher to the summit of the White Pass. It was a long drive and once there, the views were rather uninteresting.

I believe your experience was with a different company. My name is Dennis, I operate a 15 passenger van, usually do private’s and never stop at the cemetery at the beginning of a tour. Sorry your experience was less than satisfying . Please remove this review.

Our family was on an Alaska Cruise and had a stop at Skagway. At the pier someone introduced us to Dennis who promised to drive us around in Skagway and even cross the border to Yukon. It was an interesting tour with Dennis giving us excellent commentary. Dennis was a very good guide and I highly recommend him. The tour lasted 5 hours and was enjoyable.

Our family (13 of us) recently took a cruise to Alaska. One of our stops was Skagway. We decided against doing the railway tour and Skagway Summit Tours was highly recommended. The van suited our family. Dennis was the perfect guide. He is very knowledgeable about the area and kept us entertained by his stories. We were able to stop wherever and whenever we wanted. The scenery was breathtaking and will be remembered for a LONG time. Thank you, Dennis for a perfect day!!

Well,'a trifecta day'---Perfect weather,a photogenic bear,& a excellent coach driver!
Despite being a short coach trip through White Pass to the Summit,we were treated to great scenery(including a juvenile bear),opportunities to stop & do 'happy-snaps',whilst being driven by 'Russell, who was 'right on the money' with his knowledgeable,& social manner, making the tour extremely inter-active & full of levity.Definately 'a good bang for you dollar'!*

I’m glad you had an enjoyable tour while in Skagway but unfortunately Russell does not work for Skagway Summit Tours and your praise belongs to a different company. I hope your able to locate the company you toured with. SST is owned and operated solely by me Dennis
