About
Walk the aisle of JFK's Air Force One and climb aboard the Concorde at Seattle’s Museum of Flight. Built around Boeing’s original factory, it is the world’s largest air and space museum. Here, you can learn everything about the history of aviation, from the Wright Brothers and the exploration of Mars, to revolutionary aircrafts and spy planes. You’ll get to barrel-roll a Mustang, land on the moon, soar over Puget Sound in a simulator, and even sit at the controls of the fastest jet on Earth. Certain days of the month have free entry, so check before you go. – Tripadvisor

- sorcha010Auckland Central, New Zealand57 contributionsOur favourite Seattle experience!Easily our favourite Seattle experience, so far. This was such a special visit for my teen and I. We just soaked it all up, seeing favourite aircraft we hadn’t seen before, in person, and learning about Boeing aircraft we had and do regularly travel on. The volunteers/experts on-site are a wealth of lived experience and knowledge so make sure you pause for a chat. We learned a lot and didn’t want to leave! The macaroni cheese in the café was nice, too! Absolutely brilliant visit.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023
- Lisa WDallas, Texas68 contributionsA must for air/space enthusiastsWent with my aerospace engineer husband and enjoyed the experience much more than I anticipated. The staff includes a lot of veterans who are very engaging and knowledgeable. There were so many kinds of displays, from miniature models to galleries to static aircraft displays. We especially enjoyed going on board the space shuttle trainer and many of the aircraft in the Aviation Pavilion. I was disappointed that the Concorde was closed for repairs the day we visited.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 13 October 2023
- Felicity C37 contributionsHighly recommendWe visited today, it was wonderful having so many knowledgeable people to speak to throughout the exhibits. My husband has been raving about a gentleman he spoke to while my son and I made shadow puppets during the children’s class. It was a great place to go we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.Visited October 2023Travelled with familyWritten 21 October 2023
- TerrasTravelsLas Vegas, Nevada3,370 contributionsMofFlightIf you love airplanes, you have to check this place out! They have planes from many different years. The people are nice and very helpful! As soon as you walk into the big room, it kind of takes your breath away. You can see the inside of old Air Force One airplanes, as well as older commercial airplanes. Blue Angels, military, and much more! They have a small section for space as well. So cool!Visited July 2023Travelled soloWritten 29 October 2023
- Tom E1 contribution5 stars! Amazing aviation experienceAn amazing museum! Endless exhibits and aircraft (the Concorde!), could easily spend the whole day here! Very friendly staff and volunteers, very knowledgeable! If in Seattle worth a visit, only a 15 to 20min drive from downtown. Will be back again!Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 November 2023
- msa23_2000Chino Hills, California1,492 contributionsGreat way to see planes through the years. Not sure of the cost, as this was part of a business trip, but very comprehensive and has an indoor and outdoor experience. Outside are planes you can go in - great to see the different sizes. We took a tour - bless our docent - a nice retired Boeing employee who knew so much about aviation and aircraft’s, but talked a bit too much for us average folks.Visited January 2024Travelled on businessWritten 25 January 2024
- slarson127Dover, New Hampshire302 contributionsA history of flight in one place-what could be better? We visited the museum in the pouring rain and it did not dampen our spirits or excitement. Going aboard all of these planes and seeing the inner workings is not available at many museums. The guides are smart friendly and savvy. Few others braved the storm so it was a quiet thoughtful place.Visited May 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 April 2024
- azroyalsfanPhoenix, Arizona350 contributionsAmazing Place! One of the best museums I have visited! I'm embarrassed that it took me so long to get here! Do not forget to cross the bridge and visit the outside Hangar! So many things to see that I would recommend 2 visits. They give you a "return visit" discount with your original ticket. I look forward to returning!Visited April 2024Travelled soloWritten 16 April 2024
- KitmanOxnard, California960 contributionsAirplanes! - March 2024What's not to like about aviation and aerospace! Came here on a rainy Friday. It was good way to avoid the weather, but limited what I could see as some aircraft displays were outside...and I wasn't going to expose myself to that. Admission is cheap. I had a few hours before a flight out of SeaTac and this was a great choice. Free parking and just 7 miles away. There's a good number of displays to check out and read about. There's a lot of aviation history here. This aviation museum isn't as large as others I've been to, but it is, still pretty cool!Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten 22 May 2024
- BarryandJackieBerkeley, California1,155 contributionsFirst-rate.Yikes, we didn't realize how big and grand the museum was, and accordingly hadn't allotted sufficient time to enjoy it. Our fault, but consequently a bit rushed. Also, exhibits are somewhat spacious and far apart from one another and, again, with all the information provided with each one, it makes for a long period of standing about. Still, highly recommend for both a casual view as well as for those interested in details and history.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 30 May 2024

I hadn't been to the Museum of Flight for several years and was pleased with the updates, particularly to the outdoor area. It was great being able to walk through the Concord, Air Force One and the Dreamliner prototype. The WWI and WWII areas are also great, with really interesting information about the development of aviation in battle over the course of the two World Wars.
The price is a bit high at $25/person and a full day is probably more than you need unless you are a complete aviation buff, but overall it was a great experience. I highly recommend it

My husband and I drove down to Seattle to visit the Boeing Plant. We were told by our guide at the plant that if we were enjoying the Boeing Tour (which was amazing), then we would most likely enjoy the Museum of Flight. We decided to take his advice and visit the museum. He was definitely right, the museum was fascinating. There were all sorts of planes and other flying machines. We could sit in the cockpit of several of the planes, and we got to walk into the cargo hold of a huge plane that could carry tanks or even other planes. We would have liked to have seen a little more information about the planes and other machines, or have a guide available, but we enjoyed our over two hour visit.

The Museum of Flight is a must-do! There were multiple galleries that featured planes from different eras. Plan to spend at minimum 3+ hours taking in all the amazing planes on display and reading the placards.
There is also an aviation pavilion that houses aircraft in a covered outdoor area where you can walk through some of the planes. One of the coolest parts was walking through a CONCORDE!
Definitely worthwhile for anyone interested in aviation and if you do not get through the museum in one go, you can purchase a discounted Return Trip Ticket within 7 days.

This is a large museum, in three separate areas. One has great stories of aeronautic pioneers, and also has real aircraft from WWI and WWII. In another area are large aircraft, including the first 747 and a Concorde. They have a space shuttle. And there is a separate B-52 exhibit. A great place to spend about 5 hours.

If flying on today's commercial airplane flying over 500 miles an hour is fast, then imagine the Concorde flying at 1354 miles an hour while it's passengers enjoyed their meals & drinks.
Imagine how the astronauts go to the bathroom in space with no gravity under zero G condition. They slowly flow into the bathroom, close the door, undress & seat on the toilet, fasten the seat belt ( VERY IMPORTANT ), each astronaut has their own custom fit CUP ! Turn on one suction switch to remove the liquid waste, addition switch to correct the solid waste !!
Want to have a feel for it, go to the Museum of Flight !!!!

Speaking as someone who is not an aviation buff (beyond enjoying air travel) I just can’t say enough what a great museum this is. The planes are displayed in so many different ways and the great hall (planes on the ground, in the air etc) is astounding. There is a terrific information, helpful docents, great programs and more. It is hard to take it all in during one visit. The WW1 and WW2 sections are very informative and able to evoke a mood that gives you a sense of the time. Across the board this is a terrific museum. Great gift shop too.

I had several hours to kill before my flight home, so decided to head to the Museum of Flight. First of all, there are cloak room facilities, so I was able to check my suitcase in and wander around freely, which is an often overlooked facility!
The museum is excellent, with well curated exhibits and incredibly well presented artifacts. I got to see some of my favourite airplanes - I grew up making model kits, and this was truly a day for my inner child! I was in awe at the scale of some, like the Blackbird, and equally excited to see classics like the F14, Intruder, Harrier, and all of the ww2 fighters like the P51 Mustang and ME209!
The spaceflight section was really fascinating, getting to see actual spacecraft and things that been to the moon really made the trip. Standing beside an F1 engine from the Moon missions really brings the scale of that achievement to life.
Highly recommended, and I would not hesitate to return some day.

Museum of Flight Premium Experience: Knights of the Air
Fantastic, one of a kind, luxury experience. Our party of 2 (but you could have up to 4) enjoyed a private, after hours tour of the WWI wing of the Museum and lovely French dinner with wine seated amongst the glamorous planes. We had the WWI wing all to ourselves and a great tour guide to explain all the exhibits and share stories. The dinner was delicious and we were not rushed at all. The Museum has similar experience in the WWII wing if you prefer that.
I highly recommend the Museum generally, but this experience was once in a lifetime special. Thanks to our guide Chris and thanks to the Museum!

It's been awhile since we've been here, and once again we were blown away. There is so much good stuff to see in this place one could spend several days to do it justice.
On the other hand, whatever it is you do select to enjoy, it will be well presented. It wasn't always easy to relate the written boards to the equipment on display, but we were seldom out of sight of a docent in a blue jacket who could set us straight.
I recommend being strategic about a single visit. There is so much good stuff on display, you'll want to focus your attention on aspects that are of specific interest.

If you like airplanes, you'll enjoy this museum. This museum is comparable to the National Air & Space museum in the National Mall in D.C. but this one charges for admission. It's worthy of a visit. The museum has a cafe for lunch. Recharge with drinks, sandwiches, and a cookie then set out for the 2nd half of the museum.

Hoping to visit on the Saturday after Thanksgiving (Nov 26) would you recommend pre-buying tickets, or can I buy on the day for a family of four. If pre-buying how far ahead should I purchase. Thankyou.
Written 13 September 2022
I think we just paid on the day. Why not email to them and ask if pre-payment is either necessary or at a discount (I don't think it is).
Written 21 September 2022
Oops. I meant to post it here. Why 21$ and not either 20$ or 25$? Most people carry 5s and 10s or a 20/40$ if not broken up. It seems weird to end in a 1 digit and makes people use plastic more which charges the museum for the use of the plastic. It will be cheaper to encourage cash use.
Written 14 March 2020
I have no idea why admission is $21.25. Could be symbolic of something particular to aircraft. Perhaps call the Museum of Flight and ask. Now. I'm going to. Hope you enjoyed this amazing historical attraction.

What would happen if I buy and bring the appropriate parts to fix up one of the airplanes then fly it outta there and take it home?

How do u get from the boeing tour to the museum of flight??. Thanks.
Written 20 September 2019
We travelled by rental car. The Museum of Flight is 8 miles south of Seattle. The Boeing Factory tour is about 25-30 miles north of Seattle. We enjoyed both in one day.
Written 21 September 2019
Is the Museum of Flight different from the Future ofFlight Museum included with the Boeing Factory tour?
Written 17 September 2019
No they are different. Perhaps you can get Seattle discount cards that help with both, however.

The museum has a locked storage room that you’re given a ticket when you deposit your items there, when we visited we had 4 large suitcases as was on our way to the airport. Staff, courteous and promptly sorted our luggage out when we were ready to leave.

How Far is the Museum of Flight from the Fremont Troll?
Written 12 August 2019
It is 10.9651 miles from door to door. The travel times are dependent on weather. Traffic and or bridge maintenance. Average driving time is 20 minutes that’s (19+1 or 30-10 or 10+3+7) ok?! Walking is not outta the question along with Uber add probably 10-15 mins. Light Rail can be 40 minutes.

Hello , not as far as I know. You could always contact them. Enjoy the museum it was fabulous.
