I appreciate the high quality of music and liturgy. The design inside is very unique, not typical of a church this size, but it works well. The Sunday I was there, there was an African -American priest and his message with exceptional. This is the second time I've visited this church, and look forward to the next.

The Episcopal Cathedral fo St. Mark's in Seattle is a huge block structure - formed from concrete and partially faced with brick. The interior space is large and plain/simple. Acoustics are marvelous, and the organ is splendid. Staff, clergy and congregants are all friendly and helpful, and most quite knowledgeable regarding the history of this building.

The building isn't fancy from the outside, but inside it's a soaring space filled with light. The Flentrop organ has a gorgeous tone. For a truly sublime experience, visit Sunday night for the Compline (pronounced com-plin), a chanted service.

I'm not sure what the reviewer was thinking who wrote the Ugliest Church but from my photo I think you will think quite the opposite. For I found it quite beautiful and refreshing and the gift store the same. I look forward to coming back to going to one of the services here.

Last time I was in Italy, while viewing a grim, ferro-cement ruin from WWII, I learned about an architectural genre called "Fascist Brutalism". Imagine my surprise to discover that this genre is alive and well in Seattle. St Marks is a Seattle landmark because it occupies a prominent spot overlooking I-5, but up close the building is an ugly, concrete... More
