Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I’ve never felt more humiliated or disrespected than during my recent visit to Central Saloon in Seattle. My girlfriend and her friend were at the bar when four guys approached them and sat down at their table. I arrived about half an hour later and sat down next to my girlfriend, but things quickly took a disturbing turn.

Two of the men were outwardly rude, refusing to acknowledge me, and later, one of them aggressively pulled my chair back and told me to leave the table. We tried to brush it off, but it only escalated. The same guy continued to harass me, cussing at me and making racist comments while his buddy joined in. When I calmly tried to address the situation, the aggression continued, with one of them pressing his body against me in a threatening manner.

My girlfriend returned to diffuse the situation, but instead of getting help from the staff, the bouncer approached me as if I was causing a problem. I explained what had been happening, but his response was dismissive, saying that he hadn't seen anything, so there was nothing he could do.

As we left, I approached the doorman and told him that it’s his job to ensure that intoxicated patrons aren't harassing others—especially in a racist manner. Rather than addressing my concerns, both the bouncer and another staff member became hostile towards me, telling me to leave if I didn’t like it and never come back. It was beyond disappointing to see staff allow and seemingly condone this racist behavior.

I’ve never been more humiliated in public, and what was meant to be a fun evening turned into one of the most hurtful experiences I've ever had. I cannot, in good conscience, return to or recommend Central Saloon to anyone. To the owners: I urge you to address this toxic environment and hold your staff accountable for allowing and supporting such racist behavior.

A complete disappointment! As a European you are discriminated against in this bar! Right-wing extremist bouncers with the motto "America First" who are annoying tourists who visit the bar because of its history! We are a 50-something couple with a university degree! Well-groomed and freshly showered 😅 we wanted to have a last drink after our delicious dinner and couldn't even get in! A rather unkempt gentleman at the entrance asked us for our ID! Our Luxembourgish identity card wasn't enough for him, he told us as Europeans we needed a passport! We argued a bit and finally went back to the hotel to get our passport! Unfortunately, this didn't help in the end! The bouncer and his colleague at the bar became extremely aggressive and asked if we didn't understand English, that we were not wanted here and that we should look for another bar! My wife really did her best to teach the boys a lesson in law, but it was no use! After a shove from the bouncer towards my wife, we finally left this disgusting xenophobic hole😳

Met up with some friends here before the Rolling Stones at nearby Lumen Field. Good place for drinks and people watching and was amazed to learn about its history as the birthplace of grunge. All the pictures and show posters were such a nice touch. Only downside was the lack of vegan food (hence only four stars). But if you are looking for a place to pre-game before shows or sporting events at the nearby stadium (or just a rock fan), this is it.

I really enjoyed all the memorabilia this classic joint has to offer. Wether you are into alternative, classic or Punk Rock you will be pleased with this selection of a great place to hang solo or with a group of friends. Prices are better than most nearby establishments. Food is equally as good. Alexandra, Thomas and Phil we're amazing and full of life and knowlage! They always had my drinks prompt. Love this accommodating staff. Music was perfect. I am a loyal customer forever. You all Rock, see ya soon. Remember Miguel!

We happened to be passing by The Central Saloon and went in for a look. What an amazing place! A lot of history there. It was established in 1892 and is still going! You can eat and have a drink and a good time too. Worth a stop!

Great range of craft beers on tap here along with some great music history adorning the walls of this cavernous room.

Central is what you should expect from a Pioneer Square bar. No frills, reasonably priced drinks, and a down to earth crowd. We come here with a group of friends before every Sounders game and it is never overly crowded and is always a good time. The food is surprisingly good. Try the burger and the tater tots. d

The Central Saloon became my go-to place during a trip to Seattle this past fall. It's in a great location within walking distance to the Seahawks and Mariners' stadiums, Pioneer Square and the waterfront. I believe it's Seattle's oldest saloon. The walls are covered in interesting historic images. I had three different burgers, each of them hit the spot. It's a perfect pre-game spot before a Seahawks or Mariners game, but get there early because it gets packed. The bartenders were super friendly and made this solo traveler feel at home. I'm not sure what the ladies restroom was like, but fellas, make sure you use the bathroom. It's one of a kind. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Seattle.

Close to Pikes Place if you want to wet your whistle. Plus a chance to experience a piece of history, Seattle's oldest bar, 1892.

Visited here at the end of a musc tour round the city. We had some food and a drink. Very large portions, i couldn't finish it but I wanted too. It was delicious. Had the Turkey, bacon and avocado wrap with fries! Would recommend it.
