Climbed McHugh Peak on a wet day in July. Fog obscured most of the view, but the climb was still amazing. It is steep, so be ready to exercise your calves on the downhill return. The ridgeline has spectacular sweeping views to both sides of the valleys. The difference in from one side to the others is very clear: avalanche... More

McHugh Creek is just off the highway. Bring a bear bell and beware moose as this 5-6 mile round trip moderate hiking trail is often (at least once a month) closed due to wildlife in the area. Check before you go! BEAUTIFUL views. Great trail. Lots of up and down.

There is an interesting nature area and a nice view. Good place to start a day hike along Turnagain Arm trails.

This is an excellent State Park a few miles south of Anchorage. It has easy hikes and excellent views of Turnagain Arm and the surrounding mountains.

This is a great hike for avid hikers. There are two ways to get there: from McHugh Creek campground or Bear Valley. It's a steep climb but a fantastic view. Watch out for bears!

I went here all the time after school and work to just relax on the cliffside. I used to believe that my little rock on the cliff was just for me. One day, however, I went up and found a park bench :-(. It tore away my feelings that I was the only person alive that knew it was there...
