Stopped in twice it was so nice!

What a nice stop to stretch your legs and watch the trumpeter swans and other birds. Long wooden walkways let you get out pretty far to see the birds close up. Highly recommended.

A beautiful spot to see the birds
Sep 2021
I wasn't sure what to expect from Potter Marsh but I was pleasantly surprised. The marsh is very pretty and has long boardwalks to make it easy to traverse. We saw several birds/ducks here including 2 Bald Eagles (who were posing for pictures). There are several explanatory signs to help explain what you're looking at.

Beautiful, peaceful place
Sep 2021
We were lucky enough to see this area during our recent September trip. All the autumn colors were in bloom and really put on a show for us. The marsh is a quiet, peaceful area with gorgeous mountain views in the background. It is just outside of Anchorage and is a great stop for photos and to see wild birds.

Super pretty

This was a very pretty place to go in the morning, walk along the boardwalk. There were 2 more areas to go walking, but we were too chilly to go do them 😂. We enjoyed this area.

Beautifully maintained boardwalk through the marsh with views of mountains and birds. Educational posters and binoculars along the way.

Beautiful place to explore

Lots of room to explore and see birds. Beautiful views. I was told moose have been seen in area although I did not see any. Glad this location was saved for wildlife to use.

Great stop to take an easy walk on the boardwalks and enjoy the marsh. Close to Anchorage, but a good stop coming or going from Seward.

I went as part of a tour
Aug 2021
We had a 20min stop as part of a tour to see the Potter Marsh. I honestly didn't see a single bird that time and I've passed the Sanctuary a couple more times during my stay there and have never seen anything. What we did see was the salmon in the small river, that was pretty cool, so no wildlife for me. However, it was a cloudy, rainy day when I went and the clouds with the mountains and the grass made it quite a mystic landscape which was cool to experience and take pictures of.

Amazing Stop for Viewing Wildlife and Scenery
Jul 2021
This is a fantastic "hidden gem" in Anchorage. What a great place to spend a few hours in the outdoors. The walkways are well-maintained and there are numerous information boards to make your viewing more enjoyable Of course, the highlight is seeing the birds and other animals along with the beautiful views. Be sure to check the location before you go because the turnoff comes up on you really quickly on a very busy highway.
